Two weeks later the whisky has woken up somewhat and I adjust the score up slightly. The nose is more prominent and yellow fruits come out more. Still it seems that the distillery character might not be one of the outspoken ones. It remains a good summer whisky.
A summer whisky. Quite light, vanilla sweets, malty with said pistachio icecream with two yellow fruits on top and quite tame for 60,4%. Complex would be a different thing.
I was expecting more especially from a single cask selected for the distillery shop, wouldn't you go for the best?
Not sure this represents the style they want for the future, if so, it has a danger to go down "Bland Avenue", which would be a shame. Not sure if refill casks would help to add more fruitiness and what time could still do. More sweetness, vanilla and wood will not do the trick imho.
Tasted at the whisky club.
