Sensational aroma variety in the smell, looks much older than 10 years, great balance between spices, fruit notes and barrel influences. Here was a sherry keg in the game.

Well balanced on the palate, strong and spicy, with a hint of herbal notes, which I would describe as typical Nevis flavors. Everything that has promised the nose, comes out here too. Nothing stands out.

On leaving, he leaves a pleasant mouthfeel, which unfortunately subsides a little too quickly and could be a bit more intense.

Great bottling and not comparable to the current 10s.

bottle code L17/8911. simply one of the best OBs on the market, near unbeatable value if you can find it under £50. profile reminds me of springbank 10 a bit. 8/10

Old style whisky. Offers more than the usual 10 year olds. The high price is also justified.

For anyone outside of whisky geek circles, Ben Nevis 10 could easily described as "the best, affordable whisky you've never heard of." The nose immediately grabs your attention with its beguiling mix of aromas that refuse to be pinned down. One minute you get a whiff of sherry and then it is gone, likewise there is some smoke but also not. There are big citrus notes of oranges and grapefruits as well as blueberries. Honey, salt, Earl Grey, macadamia and even some faint florals in the background. At only 46% the palate is beautifully oily and mouth coating. There is no smoke but there is a definite sooty sensation, lemon, grapefruit, pepper, honey, ginger, goodness. The finish is decently long, tangy and herbal. Ben Nevis is always a surprise in the glass.

NOTES & COMMENT OF A BLIND TASTING:
Very nice part, goes very much in my direction with its exotic fruit, I also love with my No. 1 Distille Caperdonich or Lochsides, also some old 80s Caol Ila. But since here there is neither salt nor the typical notes for the others, even though it is generally difficult to capture such a malt with such special notes, I can think of another one: Glen Elgin (or a Coal Ila), 10-14 years, bourbon cask, maximum short refill sherry finish (and that if Fino), 50-54%, with a better nose and a little less alcohol punch he could have got 1-2P more

with water: unfortunately it loses something, there is also some sulfur, so I would recommend pure enjoyment here

Conclusion: Bamm, that's a standard bottling that sets new standards

A superb, top quality whisky. Hard to believe this is a 10 yo, as this would easily outclass whiskies twice its age and double the price.
