  1. HammerHead scored this whisky 81 points Connoisseur

Nose: floral, white fruits, pear, melon, also some sulfury off-note.
Taste: a general lighter sweet fruitiness, vanilla, some honey and oak wood spices.
Medium finish with dried fruits, wood spices and oaky dustyness.

Quite a basic and simple Macallan. Considering complexity this is worth no more than €30 a bottle.

Really not a fan of this one. Tastes younger than 12 years, and very generic.
    • Nose
New make. Boiled sweets. Citrus oil. Toffee. New wood.
    • Taste
Sticky sweet. Cinnamon candies. Slight sulphur. Waxy citrus peel.
    • Finish
Short-medium. Rich sweet fruits. Toffee. Marzipan. Dried citrus.

Pretty nice and balanced Malt with a really disappointing Finish.

    Overpriced as Hell though.

tasty, easy drinking, summer whisky of the Glenfiddich 12 class (and clearly too expensive)
    • Nose
      mild fruity-sweet, orange, peach, caramel
    • Taste
the fruitiness is fresher and less sweet than you might expect from the nose, rather cool apple and pear compote, with a mild aromatic-woody flavor; very watery, thin mouthfeel
    • Finish
      short and fresh

Enjoyable 'run of the mill' single malt. All in all it doesn't do anything wrong, but then again it doesn't particularly stand out either.
    • Nose
Very nice 'thick' and broad palate of smells. Dried fruits, vanilla, sweetness as in honey, cake and banana. Certainly a lovely whisky in the nose!
    • Taste
Starts of as lovely as it smells with the above notes and a certain honey sweetness but then unfortunately a certain harsh note kicks in which kind of cuts of and flattens the taste.
    • Finish
The finish is dry, a bit flat and rather short

A tasty dram! Rich, smooth and nicely balanced with an attractive fruitiness, pleasant sweetness and surprisingly warming spiciness. Good interplay of the American and European oak-derived flavours. What surprises me most is the fact that a drop water or two brings out more of the pleasant fruity flavours, while the good balance of sweet and spicy elements is still present. Another positive 'aha moment' to me.I thank Sietse Offringa and Beam Suntory Germany for the generous sample!

    • Nose
Sweet opening notes of vanilla, toffee and malted barley, followed by dried apricots, nectarines and sultanas. Smooth with a whiff of alcohol in the back, nicely balanced with oak spice, white pepper and a touch of marzipan.
    • Taste
Initially sweet and fruity on the palate with dried apricots, oranges and subtle raisins. Pleasant notes of vanilla and sherry emerge, before an impressive spiciness of oak, white pepper and ginger takes over. Very warming indeed. Malted barley and creamy honey linger towards the finish.
    • Finish
The finish shows medium length with a sweet and fruity mix of vanilla, toffee, raisins, and milk chocolate. This is followed by a slightly warming and dry spiciness of oak, ginger and white pepper on the tail.

With water: Fresh on the nose with a few drops of water. There's more fruit coming through with oranges, nectarines, apricots and subtle lemons. Still sweet with vanilla, toffee and malted barley, while the spiciness is noticeably tamed. Again lingering fruity notes on the palate with lemons, oranges, apricots and nectarines. Pleasantly creamy with vanilla, toffee and sultanas, while the warming spiciness is slightly pushed in the background. Smooth and creamy with a medium long finish. Vanilla, raisins and slightly dry oak on the tail. Very savoury!

???? - Apricot, chocolate, apple, vanilla
???? - Smooth with subtle spice, orange, apple and oak
???? - Light as anything, smooth oak and subtle vanilla

Not totally what you'd expect of Macallan for the price but still perfectly lovely.

    Macallan. Round thing.
    • Nose

Sweet, light, light fruitiness, light notes of sherry, round and pleasant nose
    • Taste

Nothing stings there, nothing bothers you, but there isn't that much taste either. Typical aromas of American and European oak.
Very nice and great. However very pale.
