    Color: dark dessert wine
    • Nose
      93 93
Dark cherries with lots of sugar, some dark raisins, leather, walnuts (little), fruit bread. A little wood.
    • Taste
      93 93
Very cute. Pickled dark cherries, fruit bread, leather, a little wood. Implied walnuts.
    • Finish
      90 90
Pickled dark cherries, sugar, fruit bread, walnuts (little), suddenly something meaty. Some wood. Medium.

Conclusion: very sherrylastig and even winy. Overall, very well done and delicious. In the finish briefly irritating, because something fleshy flashes.

Tastes as if it had first matured in the Bordeaux barrel and then matured in a 1st-fill sherry keg. With a little more wood he would have become perfect.

PS. There is nothing left of the Glenrothes character.

This is a love or hate dram. If big, bold heavily sherried whiskies is your game you will love this! This doesn't have the typcial Glenrothes sulfur that many sherried Gelnrothes have, but although the alcohol isn't that present in the somewhat shy nose, it surely kicks in at the first zip. Not in a bad way, this is just fine with a whisky that shouts 'here I am' all over the place. You will get the ususal suspects like dark fruits, vigs, raisins and x mas cake on the tongue. I must sya; finish is also outstanding and very long, specially for a 12 yo. No a bargain, but if you can find one and love big sherry monsters don't miss 'm! I think in time the nose will open a bit more and then this will definetly hit my 90 mark.
EDIT; bottle now open for over a week and changes a bit; nose less shy (but could be better) but on taste more like Kavalan Solist, but (thank God) without the somewhat woody finish a lot of Kavalans tend to have.
