Not the first current 12yo from Kilchoman, which I really like. You could almost say that Kilchoman has done everything right so far ...
    • Nose
      90 90
Freshly poured, he shows at first shy, but then collects quickly and puts a first spicy smoke in the nose. Beautiful note of a smoked ham, becomes more and more intense with time. Vanilla, caramel. Fruit sweets of red apples. Almonds, hazelnuts. Werther's Real. Black pepper and paprika spice. The smoky note then increases in such a way that even hot tar paper and some gum abrasion sets in.

In the surprisingly soft start warming peat smoke, which awakens associations of a smoked ham on the tongue. Salt, pepper, nutmeg, smoked lemon slices. Crème Brulée, caramel. It is very velvety and soft on the tongue. Brown sugar. Dried fish. Machine oil, sunlit Wadden Sea.
    • Finish
      90 90
Medium to long, creamy, slightly oily, smoky. The smoked lemon slices from the palate. Summer evening, a flickering campfire on a North Sea beach.

Dull and great! A harmonious nose sensation arises. Tons of leather with peat, smoke, matching farmy notes from chicken coop, as well as green lime and dark gray smoke. The salty spice tingles steadily in the nose and the seductive sweet peat bog is here in full range available - very very pleasant!
Waxy, sharp and fat! Sweetness crosses the mighty notes of smoke, peat, coal, ashes, campfires and minerals in a very fitting way. In total, sweet-mineral and peaty-voluminous - tightly woven - great!
Long - sweet, peaty and smoky. The soft fruit component of lime, grapefruit and lemon remains constant until the end. Sweet peat, phenols, a little wood and vanilla, as well as a salty herbal spice complete the finish perfectly.

Top single Cask Kilchoman after 12 years in the Bourbon barrel. Unfortunately, it seems to be sold out already - good that I bought some bottles in time!

A very well done, complex malt that really likes it. Kilchoman is also very good at older age!
    • Nose
The smoke of a campfire mingles with a fresh sea breeze before the scent of grains and citrus touches fade from the background. Spicy notes (Cajun) followed by vanilla, fudge, cooked fruits and baked apple. Now the smoke is getting stronger again, an old cigar box is in the corner. Honey sweetness ensures salivation ...
    • Taste
Heavy smoke spreads in the mouth accompanied by nutmeg and ginger. Back to the beach, seaweed, algae and salicorn spread and are carried in the background by limes and grapefruit. Slightly medical and mineral notes, peat moss and tar oil complete the taste.
    • Finish
Cooling smoke mixed with citrus notes and oranges is followed by milk coffee and roasted aromas before seaweed and algae return. In the background, a light tannery wafts before slowly pushing back campfire smoke into the foreground.
