  1. ColdAesthetics scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Definitely very interesting Auchentoshan, very own sweetness.
    • Nose
Had to smile, smells as if there was a lot of grain, was not meant negatively, but extreme caramel candies, honey, orange, vanilla, marzipan, orgeat, chamomile, licorice, flower meadow, oiled oak
    • Taste
Vieeel toffee, red apple, beautiful, sweet malt, chamomile tea, orange blossom honey, salt, tick oleo saccharum, linen towels, anise, almonds, pistachios
    • Finish
Cocoa beans, dusty oak, book pages, some tea, medium length

  2. rottendon scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Very unusual and above all powerful Auchentoshan. I found the grayness in the nose rather annoying.

    Notes from a blind tasting.
    • Nose
      84 84
Again very grainy, vegetable, mixed pickles, with old bottle flavor. Only after a lot of time there are other flavors, a little vanilla, caramel, an extremely subtle herbal note, but the grininess remains absolutely dominant.
    • Taste
      87 87
In the mouth it is a bit more complex, honey, herbs, a pinch of pepper. Again OBF, slightly mineral. The strange gray notes are still there, but overall it doesn't look like a grain.
    • Finish
      87 87
The finish is quite long, honey sweetness with a little menthol go fairly evenly.

  3. markjedi1 scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

The nose and finish were excellent, the taste only slightly less. All in all, this is a beautiful old Toshan.
    • Nose
The nose of this oldie is very aromatic. Sweet and malty, but also very fruity on gooseberries and oranges. Lime too. A hint of green banana. Some wild flowers. Leather and butterscotch. Even some tobacco and dried pineapple. But the top note on the nose is that of almonds.
    • Taste
The palate immediately offers oranges, peel included, toffee, honey and sweet barley. Unfortunately it is a tad light-bodied. Soft on the spices. Almonds again. Reminds me somewhat of marzipan. Very sweet, indeed.
    • Finish
In the rather short finish, I even get a hint of smoke.
