Didn't expect this to be a Talisker at all, a very clean and lean profile, plus almost a lightweight in terms of it's body, and unexpectedly dry.
No surprises here to be revealed some time into the dram, a complete straight shooter. Overall a very nice surprise in terms of quality, no off-notes, easy drinking and moreish.
Talisker has changed quite a bit, but it's obviously aspiring to it's former glory, if they can keep up this quality, they'll regain me as a customer.
One dram note from a blind tasting at our local whisky club.
orange and a dry smokiness as the main theme, orange zests, soot, sweet, orange cordial, coal smoke, some very 'clean' maltiness, a little brine, lean and somewhat dry.
sweet and zesty arrival, orange cordial, soot, coal dust, dirty, a little brine, lean and light in body, dry.
coal dust, orange zest, soot, really dry, medium length.
