Confused stuff. Somehow reminiscent of whiskey, but rather a Grain-Bourbon-Malt-Frankenstein, medium scratchy-bitter-sharp, undefined spiciness, with a lot of imagination I find a touch of caramel at the bottom. Category 7 € supermarket.

Nose very sweet almost intrusivly sugary. After the first whiff there is oak and lots of it. Some hint of leather probably? Not quite sure it´s a bit confusing. Yeah somehow reminds me of cheap bourbon.

Taste: not very balanced at all. There´s alcohol and oak and .... ?!sugar?! Somehow it´s also a bit sour. I think they thought of themselves as crazy scientists mixing something together to get gold. Well they didn´t and sold the result as blended Whisky...

Finish: Unfortunately very long and lasting. Alcohol, oak, damp wood, something foul.

Phew gonna keep away from that one just to be safe.

Delicious and similar to a bourbon. Is for the issue price in the home country in really cool PLV Monster. Is in Japan in most supermarkets for the equivalent of about 12 EUR to get. For the almost 50 that he costs with us but you get far better.

Nose, strong sensation of alcohol, malt, spices
On the palate, we find malt, brandy, green fruits (sour green apple)
In the final, it is short and flat, without relief

A very basic dram, too spicy, too alcoholic.

Kirin Fuji-Sanroku Blended Whisky 50%. Sample bottled a couple of years back. A strong golden colour. Aroma is very American oak. First fill bourbon impressions, from a good cask. Quite Scotch-like. Simple but aromatic and pleasant. Spiritous vanilla, mango, highlighter pen and marzipan, lemon flavoured halva, American oak. Nothing unusual at all, but good nonetheless. Body is excellent - creamy and rounded, oily in the mouth. Superlative weight in the mouth. Very pleasant to chew on. Taste is soft vanilla and toffee, the floral notes come through right from the start and build to a saltiness that endures alongside a lingering woodiness and some peat. An exceptional blended whisky... okay, it doesn't surprise the palate...the complexity isn't incredible...but it just does the basics to an outstandingly high level. Impressive. At the price - only £50 a bottle in the UK - it's a bargain. Apparently this costs like £7-11 in Japan, and only a few Euro on mainland Europe, which is beyond unbelievable. The only way I can account for the low score on Whiskybase (other than the standard -5 point score reduction for not being made by a closed distillery, and a further -5 points for being cheap and easy to obtain) is that this must be a variable blend. If it always tastes like this, it will always be on my shelf. 3.8/90

A promising nose, followed by an unbalanced taste and an unpleasant finish.
    • Nose
      80 80
A pleasant, sweet nose. Peach, red bean sauce, sugar cane, caramel, vanilla.
    • Taste
      55 55
Very heavy on alcohol once you get used to it, nuances of green apple and vanilla. And somehow a lot of oak that comes in waves.
    • Finish
      45 45
Long, uncomfortably long. Bitter and like wet, rotten wood

It is a good Jack Daniels.

Disappointing: a good scent is followed by an anonymous taste. On average you earn a stunted sufficiency
    • Nose
      80 80
Good sweet scent of vanilla, powdered sugar, green apple and a hint of lemon
    • Taste
      50 50
Anonymous flavor. I also try it with water to see if it improves, but nothing. The taste just does not convince me, it is flat, monotone and without treble
    • Finish
      50 50
