Whisky Reviews for Glengoyne 1970

- Wow, what a malt. My oldest malt so far regarding the desitilation date of 1970. I can understand why many connoisseurs mourn the old bottlings. What an intense, multi-layered, perfectly matured and balanced sherry malt, a real stunner. When enjoying this dram, time flies by. A very special single cask close to the perfection from my favorite distillery, big cinema.
nice intense sweet-spicy sherry note without being overwhelming; Dried fruit; a lot of raisins; beautiful rum pot aromas; Fudge; spices; some sweet liquorice; pleasant oak aromas resonate;
exciting and complex nose
oily voluminous; clear great sherry note; Raisin and roma pot aromas are also pronounced on the palate; Dried fruit; a wonderful tingling spice is on the tongue all the time; spices; a hint of mint flashes in the mouth after a long stay;
everything wonderfully intense and super balanced
long; Sherry; tingling spice persists; Dried fruit; raisins; spices; Cinnamon; a hint of mint freshness; delicate wonderfully integrated oak note; no bitterness;
The finish is also multi-layered and exciting
- An incredibly amazing dram. It adds layers of additional aromas and depth vs. the current 28 year old Glengoyne 1st fill Oloroso. Truly outstanding.
- Nose: gentle and rich Oloroso sherry, but not overpowered, honey, dried fruit, some pepper (surprising!), Raisins, oak with licorice flavors, mint G: clear sherry, nice round, firm body. Raisins very strong, some mint F: long, with clear oak, sherry notes are very round and well balanced, behind the nose very rich licorice aroma
