I already liked the 40% version, but this is in a different league. My favourite portwood fishished whisky!
    • Nose
Orange marmalade, chocolate, fruity (passion fruit, bananas, apricots), spicy (pepper, cinnamon), cassis, port sweetness, brown sugar
    • Taste
Rich, oily, creamy, sweet port, honey, oranges, peaches
    • Finish
      Long, sweet, spicy, citrus

What a nose! Fruity and sweet, the nose literally explodes and exudes an incredible fruitiness. The taste and finish are the complete opposite. Tart and subtle bitter wood aromas dominate, the sharpness harmonizes perfectly with the wood. The fruit and sweetness has disappeared. An intense spicy note is above all else. A great and multi-faceted Balvenie, I like it very much!
    • Nose
Sweet fruit pours out of the glass while tough streaks run slowly back into the glass after panning. Overripe apricots and tangerines mingle with sweet caramel. A subtle touch of wood tries to blaze a trail through the dominant fruit note, a touch of leather comes out, the alcohol note becomes more intense. Toffee and caramel become more intense, bananas and currants mix with the fruity apricot and orange blend. What a nose!
    • Taste
The first sip starts with a spicy and slightly tart oak note. Short, the overripe fruits come into their own, then a slightly salty pungency sets in. Pepper and subtle chilliaroma rises from the heat. The second sip is wonderfully creamy, light caramel is quickly whitewashed by the spicy and sharpening wood aromas. Hazelnuts and then also walnut flavor.
    • Finish
Herb and subtly bitter the finish begins. Unripe walnuts and walnut shells exude a bitter aroma, spice now dominates the finish. A slight hint of liquorice and a hint of grapefruit stand out from the bitter wood. Suddenly, this peppery and slightly salty pungency arises again. Chubby warm, the finish exudes a chubby and sharp mouthfeel. At the end of the finish creates a flavor of immature walnuts.

Strong dram. The 7% do the whisky very well. significantly better than the 40%
    • Nose
Port, volume, spicy, slightly alcoholic, no smoke, spiciness, nutty
    • Taste
Very strong onset, alcohol clearly noticeable without burning too much, honey, spicy, moderately sweet, port clear, dark chocolate, again port, warm, pleasant, very ripe raisins, very light orange note, nut
    • Finish
Long, warm, round, oak, but not too much, nut

Wonderfully fruity-sweet malt that still has the hint of spicyness in the right places.
    • Nose
Beautiful, full-flavored nose, which takes one directly, has something of full fruit compote, it is apricots with peel, strawberry jam, prunes, red apple glazed with brown sugar, beautiful honey and gentle vanilla with light floral and grassy influences behind it, even for 47, 6% pretty intense, the port itself is not so obvious, just looks like a naturally fruity sherry whisky, toffee
    • Taste
Here is a very oily, but also full appetizer, beautiful body, the fruits also spread here, apricot compote, peach jam, plums crushed, red apple pickled in honey and glazed, brown sugar, some nutmeg now, cinnamon, vanilla, hint of kitchen herbs In addition, thyme, berries, also glazed (not fresh from the bush), strawberry jam, now a little more portly sweetness, some dark chocolate, a little licorice the second time and now comes even a hint Tropik, banana jellies in milk chocolate, etc., raisins and a little black pepper / chili
    • Finish
Yes, here we have extreme haven syrup already more, still herbal honey, some nutmeg and now for the first time a little oak with malt, the main notes are brown sugar and strawberry jam, long

A nice, delicious malt. The finish is easily recognizable and shows itself especially in the second impression. It should not be less alcohol, otherwise it will be too weak. So he comes across the border from weak to mild.
    • Nose
The first nose is sweet and less fruity, honey, tart oak, subtle herbs, nutmeg, now the port to beech, blackberries, caramel, strawberry compote, feinherbe chocolate, dried orange peel, apricots, nut mixture, banana milkshake, a touch of leather, a total from Balvenie known sweet Grundtenor, the Porteinfluss is rather moderate but very pleasant. In the second nose he opens up again. Here more great Portwein, much sweet fruitiness
    • Taste
sweet, creamy, honey, caramel, nicely full, great integrated alcohol, nutty, heavy fat fruit notes, blackberry and strawberry jam, subtle, stronger oranges, dark chocolate
    • Finish
lovely, sweet, a lot of honey, little oak, creamy, getting a little tart, recognizable tendency to bitter oak notes, short to medium length finish, here comes in the second sip again significantly more port after more oak and subtle chocolate with nut (walnut skin holds Long)

I gave this whisky 90 points
    • Nose
Port, banana, passion fruit and oranges. Nutty.
    • Taste
Rich. Complex. Honeyed, chocolate and quite creamy
    • Finish
Long, cedary (oak) and quite dry. A bit bitter but really nice. Smooth and balanced

What I love about the PortWood finish is its complex palate and the nose

is incredible. One of my absolute favorites. The coffee, mocha, orange

peel, and the finish is just sensational. This is the one to get if you

want that wow factor for any gift. This is the best PortWood I believe, because at cask strength it allows you the consumer to adjust to taste.
