Whisky Reviews for Finch Single Malt Sherry
6 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 76.42 points
Starts lush and heavy with a markedly deep malt note. Bit by bit, nut butter or, better, walnut oil and a nice, oaky seasoning follow. In the background are dried fruit (apricot, fig and raisins), some nut butter, dried oranges, maybe even some yeast and meat broth. Takes time and is increasingly gaining in depth.
Starts out pleasantly spicy accompanied by nutty sherry tones and a tremendous maltiness. Then follow walnuts, oak, jute, and a hint of raisins and apricots. In addition, lots of nuts, nut oil and slightly yeasty, stock-like flavors. Really very good and with 46% it would be even better.
Long, nutty, tender dried fruit.
Sherry, red fruits, pear
Cake batter with fruit, caramel
Soft and mild
I expected more. I found the Finch Classic with 40% much better.
- For a malt from the sherry barrel but very bright. Looks like a bourbon barrel.
In the nose then Gerstler and also Grappa notes. Add some oak. In the mouth now sweeter and again the notes from the nose. But less intense. Overall, there is little going on in the mouth.
Nope. I don't have to have it again. It is not disgusting now, but for me it is rather something for the category of drinkable short.
