Great old style Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. It's driven by the sweeter but slightly dirty (polish) notes on the nose and palate, but gives a more spicy edge towards the end. Great development, a firm body and quiet some character.
    • Nose
      89 89
Very complex, overall quite gentle. It has the fruitiness of blueberry, greasiness of shoe polish, creamy creme brulee, caramel, maple syrup, corn, and cinnamon rolls.
    • Taste
      88 88
Medium to full-bodied, with a dominance of furniture polish, dark gruit like cherry and blueberry and quite some sweet treats as syrup, vanilla custard, toffee and corn. This is not to say that it's only sweet with a small sour edge. There are some tannins which deliver a spicy edge of pepper and a bit of clove and nutmeg.
    • Finish
      88 88
Medium, spicier than before. Pepper plays a big role. It goes well with the fruity side that we had before, the syrups, some pastry and wood.

The original price of this miniature was Price 6D. I bought it at auction in 2016 for peanuts.

N: “This has legs like an octopus!”, I say. The Foz replies with “Forget Jerry Hall. Octopussy’s don’t have legs”. Nosing, we have a dessert fruitiness in the form of apples & pears with one heaped dessert spoon of homemade custard accompanied by black pepper, curry leaves and cardboard-y Shreddies.
T: Arrives as straight bourbon before a welcomed old skool corn wave with a malty-like depth. There are bitter sour notes but still within sweeter corn confines.
F: Grain sherbet, blueberry muffin and bitter oaky chocolate with one whole black peppercorn at the death.
    C: Excellent Pappy-esque bourbon.

Old bottle. 35ml for ¥500 @ Sake Museum.

Appearance: Medium orange-golden. Pale for a bourbon.

Nose: Cherry, woody oak, cinnamon, cookies.

Palate: Wow. Lovely depth, vanilla, lots of oak, cherry and cinnamon.

    Finish: Dry and smooth.

Overall: Very good stuff. Definitely not the flavor of a budget bourbon, which I do think in fact it was. Rich and smooth and full-flavored.

Same mini of WhiskyLovingPianist... Not bad at all, but is not my "campo da gioco".
