A delicious and uncomplicated Bowmore, solid and tasty without a "wow-effect" just to enjoy and unwind ...

    22/28/22/22 (88P)
    • Nose
Old straw shines in the Premium Snifter, from a distance a wonderfully smoky fragrance blows from the glass, oily "legs" pull their fast tracks back into the glass. Sweet fruit notes stand out from the smoky top note, mild peat and abrasion of orange peel play together. Maritime notes such as salty seawater, subtle iodine and slippery algae harmonize perfectly with the now earthy peat and the sweet fruit note. Oranges, apricots and peaches, along with sweet caramel and creamy toffee, create a wonderful overall impression.
    • Taste
Mild peat and fruit spills over the tongue, cold smoke rises, minimal sets wooden sharpness on the tongue. A pinch of white pepper trickles on the tongue, warmth floods the palate. Tart oranges and a touch of citrus fruit dissolve from the smoke and peat notes sticking to the tongue, burnt sugar and a chunk of hard caramel slowly dissolve in the saliva under the tongue. Salt dissolves from wet wood. Appearances of grapefruit and fresh mint rise, tart and old walnuts appear in combination with dry wood tones.
    • Finish
Herb and slightly bitter stick wood elements and peat on the palate, the cold smoky note is the whole time pleasantly in the background. Citrus fruits and dark yellow berries create a sweet and fruity contrast with caramel and toffee. For a long time, the aftertaste of its smoky-peaty nature remains in the memory while at the end, white pepper discreetly burns on the palate and on the tongue.

A wonderful complex bourbon bowmore with a Laphroaig twist without the intrusive sweetness of many other new bottlings - a malt that I can spend a lot of time with and which is fun

Mint, menthol, salted dry smoke, entering a freshly chlorinated indoor pool, gauze bandages, vanilla and caramel in a maritime environment, fresh green vegetables, kohlrabi, cauliflower, a shrub of heather, straw in midsummer
    • Taste

The neat package of iodine surprises, moreover it is surrounded by creamy custard, apple mint - very exciting

lasts a long time with a soothing warmth in the cheek pockets, the smoke lingers in the throat and cotton candy closes the whole thing

I tasted this Bowmore at „The Village“ in Nuremberg in 2019. I still have fond memories of its lovely fruit notes and sweet vanilla, combined with gentle smoke... I‘d have loved to buy a bottle of this, but the retail price is absolutely ridiculous, even in these crazy whisky times; so no wonder you still can find it at retailers.

A great matured Bowmore, very tasty but still powerful and not boring. This Bowmore shows how well a higher alcohol content can do something that I often miss at the OA. The alcohol is perfectly integrated, it does not need water. A great malt, only the price is an announcement.

sweet; ashy-greasy smoky note; sweet fruit notes; Citrus flavors; Caramel; slightly maritime notes (salty sea water, algae, a hint of iodine); very nice nose
    • Taste
      88 88
sweet and oily; subtle fruit flavors; citrus; slightly earthy note; somewhat salty; delicately tingling oak flavor; nicely integrated smoke note (towards cold ash); shortly after swallowing, a slight freshness of mint flashes through
    • Finish
      88 88
long; pleasant delicately tart oak spiciness; White pepper; sweet citrus; nice cold smoke note as a counterpoint that remains in the mouth for a very long time

This is Bowmore the way I love it. Light peatsmoke, salty, very fruity (citrus & orchard fruits) and oily. Great summer dram. I can enjoy this for hours...
