This whisky stands out from the crowd. Most buddy's agree that even after enjoying a few drams it is still easy to taste this old lady and bring the nice get-together with friends to a brilliant conclusion. The considerable sweetness is wonderfully integrated into the pleasant smoking ensemble and I perceive the enjoyment of the drams as a well-balanced, extremely pleasant experience, which is lastingly impressed on those who enjoy it. It may not be for everyone, let alone a daily dram. But for me she's the holy grail right now, whatever that says about my whisky skills. For some whisky fans it may not be subtle or complex, but although I am not an absolute friend of smoky whiskys, I have to give this taste experience, which clearly surpasses the nose on the Palat, a whopping 90 points.

My absolute favorite whisky. Smoke and sweet. It's hard to believe that this can be done naturally

A wonderfully sweet Lagavulin in cask strength. This is how the Disillers Edition should taste!

A taste grenade. Great fruity sweetness. Drinks wonderfully.

A little smoke with a lot of sweetness. Honey-like. Dates with icing, darker fruits.
    • Taste
      88 88
Overripe cherry, ripe berries, the honey sweetness with a herbal note. Alcohol is not noticeable.
    • Finish
      89 89
Fruity sweetness is there for a long time. A little smoke still hovers in the mouth and also a slight sharpness.

In general, I'm a big friend of the ADOS series, not least because of the very fair price-performance ratio and the almost always excellent maturation. However, this bottling could not convince me, which is mainly due to my personal taste.
For me it is a one-dimensional malt that a refill Pedro Ximénez cask would probably have given more.

As I warm the malt, which is still a little cool, in my hand, I keep taking a nose out of the glass: it seems like a little fight to me. The whisky, which is still comparatively young at the age of ten, tries to put the Pedro Ximénez cask in its place, but has little chance. First, a pleasant campfire smoke fills the nose, followed by an incredibly "sticky" sweetness. The campfire smoke now almost completely disappears under this sweetness. Underneath are light oak and delicate menthol notes. The alcohol is otherwise hardly noticeable and could be even higher for the enormous sweetness. Notes of dried plums appear with imagination - otherwise the nose remains one-dimensional for me, sticky-sweet (reminds me of these chocolate gingerbread).
    • Taste
      81 81
Like syrup and with a sweetness of molasses, the malt flows onto the tongue and covers the entire mouth with lasting effect. As in the nose, the sweetness surpasses the smoke. However, with a little more time, this can still show that it is a Lagavulin. Sticky gingerbread is added.
    • Finish
      81 81
Medium long, sweet, the smoke dissipates quite quickly.

    A really great whisky!
It combines the sherry sweet and the smoky. I like the dram. Nothing complex but great.

I think the lady n tick "worse" than the Old Man but that may also be because we have gotten used to the grandiose level of Marco. The benchmark for Islay & Sherry is the Laga DE for me. Measured by this, the lady is absolutely top, if you were lucky to shoot them in the first 5 minutes to 78 €. The secondary market prices are then unfortunately determined by scarcity and passion (even for the ingenious covers).

I liked the Old Man a little better. Are both very special and sweet for me and with a not very pleasant peat.
    • Nose
      89 89
sweet smoke, stewed compote, cinnamon, caramel, dark chocolate, not super complex but very harmonious
    • Taste

strong start, very sweet, ashtray, cigarette butt, wet cigarette, not my case ....

Violent, how sweet that is. In the mouth, the sweetness even partially covers the smoke. For people who like it cute maybe that's what. For me that's a good deal too much.

Delicious sweet and Smokey dram. The smoke notes from the Lagavulin are clearly noticeable. The PX cask has done an incredible job and turned this smoke dram into a very sweet explosion of strawberry and raspberry marmalade. A bit too sweet though. This dram serves perfectly after a decent dinner as a desert.
    • Nose
Smoke, sweet red and dried fruits
    • Taste
Delicious balanced smoke with a lot of sweet red fruits, such as strawberries and raspberries.
    • Finish
      Sweet and less smoke

    Incredibly sweet, tasty and delicious.
    • Nose
      90 90
Wonderfully balanced and sweet fruity PX-Sherry with a subtle smoke note, dates, honey, red fruits in frosting.
    • Taste
      90 90
Ripe strawberries, cherries, forest honey. The alcohol is fabulously integrated and it could have been more than 50% by volume.
    • Finish
      89 89
Slightly peppery smoke. The sweetness and fruits stay long, the smoke accompanies discreet and pleasant.
