Nose: While I warm up the malt, which is still a bit cool, in my hand, I keep taking a nose out of the glass: It seems like a little fight. The comparatively young whisky, who was still comparatively young at ten, tried to put the Pedro Ximénez barrel in his place, but had little chance. First, a pleasant campfire smoke pours into your nose, followed by an incredibly "sticky" sweetness. The campfire smoke now almost completely disappears under this sweetness. Below are light oak and delicate menthol notes. The alcohol is otherwise barely noticeable and could be even higher for the enormous sweetness. Notes of dried plums come up with imagination - by the way, my nose remains one-dimensional, sticky-sweet (reminds me of these chocolate cakes).

Palate: Like syrup and with a sweetness of molasses, the malt pours onto the tongue and lastingly covers the entire mouth. As in the nose, the sweetness surpasses the smoke. However, with a little more time, he can still show that it is a Lagavulin. Sticky gingerbread are added.

Approach: medium-long, sweet, the smoke evaporates very quickly.

Very one-dimensional malt that a refill Pedro Ximénez barrel would have given more.

This whisky stands out from the crowd. Most buddy's agree that even after enjoying a few drams it is still easy to taste this old lady and bring the nice get-together with friends to a brilliant conclusion. The considerable sweetness is wonderfully integrated into the pleasant smoking ensemble and I perceive the enjoyment of the drams as a well-balanced, extremely pleasant experience, which is lastingly impressed on those who enjoy it. It may not be for everyone, let alone a daily dram. But for me she's the holy grail right now, whatever that says about my whisky skills. For some whisky fans it may not be subtle or complex, but although I am not an absolute friend of smoky whiskys, I have to give this taste experience, which clearly surpasses the nose on the Palat, a whopping 90 points.

My absolute favorite whisky. Smoke and sweet. It's hard to believe that this can be done naturally

Delicious sweet and Smokey dram. The smoke notes from the Lagavulin are clearly noticeable. The PX cask has done an incredible job and turned this smoke dram into a very sweet explosion of strawberry and raspberry marmalade. A bit too sweet though. This dram serves perfectly after a decent dinner as a desert.

    Incredibly sweet, tasty and delicious.
    • Nose
      90 90
Wonderfully balanced and sweet fruity PX-Sherry with a subtle smoke note, dates, honey, red fruits in frosting.
    • Taste
      90 90
Ripe strawberries, cherries, forest honey. The alcohol is fabulously integrated and it could have been more than 50% by volume.
    • Finish
      89 89
Slightly peppery smoke. The sweetness and fruits stay long, the smoke accompanies discreet and pleasant.

A wonderfully sweet Lagavulin in cask strength. This is how the Disillers Edition should taste!

A taste grenade. Great fruity sweetness. Drinks wonderfully.
    • Nose

A little smoke with a lot of sweetness. Honey-like. Dates with icing, darker fruits.
    • Taste
      88 88
Overripe cherry, ripe berries, the honey sweetness with a herbal note. Alcohol is not noticeable.
    • Finish
      89 89
Fruity sweetness is there for a long time. A little smoke still hovers in the mouth and also a slight sharpness.
