A balanced malt, which should give you some time in the glass. A drop of water completes him.

Very pleasant in the smell. However, one is not received by the typical PX nose. Definitely sherry, but not fat, not overcrowded, not unbelievably sweet. Fruity yes, but not dark, rather light, pear, mineral notes, a little oak and far in the background a hint of caramel and vanilla. It opens with one or two drops of water and becomes (even) more pleasing, with round, nutty flavors added.

Smell and taste are not far apart. Balanced. Sweet on the tongue, oily on the palate, sherry, oak and mineral notes fill the mouth.

Medium long, discreetly sweet, it leaves a hint of old wood.

It has been skilfully proven how to whip up a whisky balanced against the trend of having everything squeezed down by sherry. The PX acts on an equal footing with the wonderfully aged spirit and out comes a fruity-spicy beauty
    • Nose
Set according to the age. I'm typing American oak refill, because there's no dark brew of tannins and sticky PX sweetness pushing one out of the glass. The sherry is there, but rather chocolaty, nutty, spices and autumn fruit compote rise from the glass. The Brennereicharakter with the so typical ripe pear is still recognizable, I like that very much. Conclusion to the smell: rather dry-spicy. Pleasant wood and no excessive sherry freight.
    • Taste
No controversy in the taste. Nice texture, pleasantly oily. Sandalwood and roasted nuts come to mind, also a bit earthy-mineral, it tingles easily (not alcoholic). The fruity Longmorn Spirit has held up well over the years, the delicate fruitiness is played around by sherry and not flattened.
    • Finish
Chocolate and dry wood, very pleasant finish with short bursting fruitiness (peach)
