    As my first introduction to a Lowlands whisky, the Auchentoshan 18 Year Old reminded me of Teeling Irish whisky. Perhaps because they're both triple distilled? But it had a similar light, pleasant, easy drinking experience. The Auchentoshan 18 Year wasn't particularly complex, but it certainly wasn't "bad" at all. It feels like something that's easy to sip during the hot Summer months.

      Vanilla sweetness. Light honey and stone fruit notes.
    • Taste
      70 70
      Grassy, light bitterness, gentle vanilla, toffee, caramel notes.
    • Finish
      68 68
      Medium finish. There's a faint lingering of bitterness. Light vanilla, caramel sweetness.

    Pleasant summer whisky. For the age and the price, there is not enough offer here.
    • Nose
      Mild with ripe citrus fruits. Fresh floral notes and creme brulee and fruity pipe tobacco. Later some green tea and peaches with cotton candy. The flavors are all very light.
    • Taste
      Creamy and delicate with sugared, ripe citrus fruits and coconut. A little vanilla and emerging oak spice. A hint of nutmeg and almonds.
    • Finish
      Dry citrus fruits, oak spice and grassy noen towards the end.

    At first it seems like some summer, fresh whisky, everything in it is smoothed out. Very light, weak and simple, although it is written that a limited edition, but the strength, tinted color and uncomplicated taste show a commercial release that will not surprise anyone. For an 18 year old whisky this is a failure, very weak.
    • Nose
      Soft, light and delicate aroma of vanilla, sweet citrus fruits, flower pollen, some meadow herbs, flower honey. Later, a hint of freshly varnished wood appears, sweet fresh tobacco.
    • Taste
      Without special impressions - sweet, very pleasant and soft, citrus, a hint of orange juice with herbs, or some kind of orange liquor, you can feel the aging in the barrel.
    • Finish
      Medium, more interesting than taste, it warms well, sweet, tobacco, burning, here you can feel the strength, there is no oak saturation.
