Always been a fan of this distillery and they seem to continue to keep their standards high and prices reasonable. This is why they have the respect of most whisky drinkers.
The first thing that hits you is that great combination of nut, spice and smoke. All on a level playing field. Dig a little deeper and there are raisins, fish bone and creosote. Really nice and you just hope that the taste will follow suit.
And it does. The spice, nut and smoke compliment each other nicely and are in perfect harmony. I also get some spearmint and not much else and there doesn't have to be it is fine the way it is, not overly complex just perfectly balanced with what's in there.
The finish is long warm and spicey. Everything that was thrown at your taste buds very slowly fades to a Keyser Soze. Just like that (blow on fingers) it's gone.
