  1. Calmar scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

    Pleasant and well-cut line (Balvani, as I understand it), rich aroma, harmoniously combined with it taste / finish, can not be too diverse, but rich and deep enough - age makes itself felt, although in general it looks younger than its years. Good work with the fortress - from 48% it was possible to create a very dense and saturated mole, especially in the aftertaste.
    • Nose
      Open, dense, flower-honey, very diverse and rich in shades; orange jam, lemonade notes, in the background - dry grain and freshly scoured boards, light mineral tones;
    • Taste
      Oak-herbaceous with sourness, honey, propolis, orange peel, a little red pepper and ginger.
    • Finish
      Spicy, skins of oranges, candied ginger, cinnamon, coriander, cumin, black (literally) rye bread.

    Enthusiasm 3/5
    Whisky n ° 1337
    • Nose
      An atypical nose with aromatic herbs. Liquorous, alcoholic limit. It's young. A kind of varnish. Over time, it seems to me that it's more like blood orange or grapefruit.
    • Taste
      Whew, here is something a little more "whisky". Beautiful texture. The herbs are still there. A bit simple, missing a little body. Juicy, despite everything.

    Pale gold color, nose on honey, slightly vanilla, pastry, with apricot, peach, citrus, some grass cut. Mouth powerful for 48%, a little alcohol, at least at the opening of the bottle, on honey, vanilla, a lot of spices (pepper in particular), some vegetable notes. Finale of medium length, spicy, lacking a little fruit. A fairly classic Speysider, a priori aged in barrels of bourbon, a little young for my taste. To enjoy when the bottle has taken a little air. After a few months the whisky is transformed into a real fruity bomb!

    Undisclosed Balvenie. Also available with the "castle label" Speyside 19yo.
