It is recommend to allow the whisky to develop over 10 mins after the initial taste. Do NOT add water. Just kills everything even by the slightest single drop.

Malted honey and quaker oaks. Sweet to the nose with floral senses. Cooked pear with barley, fried onions and boiled vegetables.
Marshmellows, ice cream soda, Pâte à Choux.
    • Taste
      87 87
Sweet, fruity and luscious lemon scented vanilla cream. Malty and nutty, hint of almond, pecan and oats. Drip lemon juice on peanut butter and this is what it's like.

Moving from the body onwards to the finish brings rise to pepper, hawthorn, caramel and cinnamon. Herbal yet not harsh at the same time, its rather appealing on the tongue. Ledaig's are known for some nitty gritty harshness with raw peat fired embers and charcoal scented flavours. However this one in particular is minimal and lacking in that department.
Rather refreshing from the usual norm.

Medium to long, not overly long. Remains as sweet, spicy and nutty.

    1447) Ledaig, 2007/2019, 11YO, Cask LG719, Highproof, Hidden Spirits

N- Penang's preserved nutmeg slices, sour, sweet, salty and exotic, then ashy smokes hit the nose with heavy notes of fermented soya. Its dirty, its fishy and its also packed with seashore muddy peat as I would expect nothing less from Ledaig. No sherry influence and the liquid looks pale, but the soya prevail. A non blackish soya sounds like a good marketing too. (92/23)

P- Umami, baked oyster on shell, savoury sweet with sprinkle of chopped basil and green herbs. Soothing sweetness and spiciness. Semi oily, citrus peels and oak in harmony, and of course the nutmeg too. (91/22)

F- Medium...may be slightly more, salty-sweet prickly oak, burnt peels smokes, warming. Bespoke dram for a fishing excursion, I just wish its finished dirtier and lasted slightly longer. (87/21)

Nose - Stronger peat on the smell stronger medicinal notes , some wood oak , it has some very nice aroma to it, couldn't get the saltiness or dirty nose
Taste - Metal like first, then vegetative herbal notes, sweetness follows
Finish - Medium Long finish, lingering peat finish

very nice Ledaig at optimum strength, bringing a salty maritime ambience
over sweet & smoked lemons… short-ish finish, but spicy and sparkling!
    • Nose

yes to boiled vegetables, but i choose to go with herbs and wet sand.. dust, ash, lemons and just a hint of Ledaig’s proverbial dirtiness.. no alcoholic sting, the bourbon keg was top notch! very fresh.
    • Taste
      88 88
sweet, peat and lemons sizzling on the grill.. not the most complex, but very good at what it does. very sparkling! a real meal-accompanying dram.
    • Finish
      87 87
short lived, on licorice and quite a lot of salt, actually.. dry to the bone and a bit spicy.. not bad at all for a 10 yo junior!

Nicely done. A delicious Ledaig ... But I also really like Ledaig.
    • Nose
At the beginning, the Ledaig smoke is noticeable. Greasy, slightly scratchy, but also with a certain sweetness, vanilla, subtly light fruits, apricot, (canned) peach, apple peel, a little malt and a peppery spice comes after.
    • Taste
The smoke pops on the palate. Then it becomes sweeter with forest honey and somehow mild. I have less of the fruits. Instead, it is more spicy with a slight herbal touch.
Alcohol is well integrated, never disturbs, but transports the aromas well.
    • Finish
      delicious, drier, sweetish spicy finish
