Whisky Reviews for Speyside Malt 1992 EL

- Unassuming at first, but it improves mightily with some patience / air / water. The nose doesn't really announce what's to come on the palate, which is top-notch.
Chalky, dry, perhaps even a bit acerbic. Graphite, grapefruit and lime zest. Sparkly and citric like an extra-dry prosecco. With time, it becomes more floral and softly waxy. Pollen, sunflower oil, buttercups.
Lovely texture and depth. The waxy and mineralic side is still there, and everything is framed by a soft, elegant bitterness, but it's way more lush and inviting than on the nose. Much more fruity, too. Kiwis, kumquats, futuro melon, ripe white peach. Excellent stuff, and even better with a drop of water.
Waxy and dusty in equal parts, interlaced with fresh fruits and only the faintest hint of oak.
