Glenlossie-Glenlivet 21 yo 1957/1978 (80° proof, Cadenhead, dumpy black label) Nose: quite some camphor and beeswax, developing more on motor oil and well-cured ham. A little mint. Mouth: powerful, meaty and spicy, with a very faint acridness. Hints of coriander and pine resin. Surprisingly powerful and very unusual but very good. A little dust in the finish, which often happens with these old bottles. Also hints of ginger and liquorice, and even some tangerine liqueur in the aftertaste (yes, that fruitiness). SGP:453 – 91 points

Whisky from old Cadenhead dumpy's is always a treat to taste. This one is no exception. Sample from the bottle at the bar of Dornoch Castle.
    • Nose
Intriguing old and dusty nose with pineapple, mango and pear. Lineseed and camphor. Some grassiness. Mineral notes as well. Hints of sponge at the background.
    • Taste
Quite astringent with citrus fruit of lemon and lime. Also tangerines and orange peel. Cedar wood notes. Pine and mint. Very fragile but complex at the same time. There's clearly some old bottle effect, but hey this bottle is off course really old.
    • Finish
Medium long. Gentle spices of pepper and nutmeg. Ginger and liquorice. Menthol at the end.

    Beautiful old Glenlossie.
    • Nose
Mellow with notes of dried apricots, black tea and hints of nutmeg. Very pleasant.
    • Taste
Warming and tasty. Cape gooseberries, beeswax and ginger. Slightly sherried. Has that famous old bottle flavor.
    • Finish
Long and becoming spicier with more ginger, liquorice and a little pepper.
