Very tasty and a nice combination of orange, caramel and strong spicy nuances. I like the increased alcohol content. Compared to conventional Maker's Mark, there are significantly more aromas in the smell and taste. Is he better than the Makers 46? Hm no. I wouldn't say Would I get it? Yes.

The color in the glass is a dark, rich copper. The first impression is an intense, classic bourbon nose. Lots of corn, caramel and vanilla pour out of the glass here. However, little to no smell of glue, as is often associated with bourbon. The high proportion of corn in the mashbill is dominant at the beginning. This changes after a short time and changes to nice juicy orange flavors. For me, these were also clearly present with Makers 46. In addition, pre-Christmas spices such as nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves resonate and present the aromatic impressions of the wood. Nicely balanced and not too strong, as often happens with higher percentage bourbons. Alcohol shows up very easily with a subtle fresh after-eight mint note, but is well integrated.

A nice, powerful start in the mouth, but oily and tasty. First a lot of caramel and vanilla and the juicy orange on the nose dominates. The taste changes relatively quickly towards the spiciness of the wood with the corn in combination and the nutmeg and cinnamon. The alcohol remains present with the mint note towards the finish.
    • Finish
      84 84
Slightly astringent in the finish, the 50.5% show their strength. Towards the end, the wood aromas take on a floral touch. The finale is medium in length, the wood notes, paired with the spices, remain in the mouth for longer.

    NOSE
Oak, caramel corn, vanilla fondant, dried dark fruit, leather, roasted nuts and some citrus peels and baking spice.

The aroma is quite warm and full with an even pairing of sweet and earthy notes.

    PALATE
Oak, caramel corn, vanilla fondant, honey, dried dark fruit, leather, roasted nuts, baking spice and some hints of citrus peels and cocoa.

In essence, it’s the same as the aroma but with some added, darkly sweet, notes of honey and cocoa.

    FINISH
Med-long -> Oak, baking spice, and dried cherries fade out to caramel and spice.
