Whisky Reviews for Forest Whisky 2008 - Orkney Single Malt FoDi

3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 85.50 points

  1. Carlos scored this whisky 88 points Expert Junior

At the beginning rather very strong alcohol on the palate (despite the fact that it's bottled only at 48% ABV). After having the bottle open for a few weeks the influence of the oxygen is quite notable on the positive side. It turned out into a very smooth, easy drinking single malt. You can taste the 11 years in the ruby Port Barrique, it's a very round and gentle whisky.

    • Nose
      89 89
Toasty oak with jammy red berries and a pinch of white pepper.
    • Taste
      87 87
Still packed with juicy berries - think raspberry and boozy blackcurrant. Hints of salinity further within.
    • Finish
      88 88
Quite chocolatey, with a touch of fizzy orange later on.

Wow, is this really an 11 year Scotch? Honestly, a great malt for value and definitely a highland park! I've already tasted too many UAs and OAs from the Vikings to fool me. Hot stuff! However, it takes time in the air to fully open, a wonderful sweetness and spiciness, as in the nose, as well as in the taste and the finish. Thanks for this bottling! :-)

This is the first private bottling of single malt Scotch whisky by Forest Whisky. It was distilled on Orkney in 2008 before resting in a single ruby Port barrique for the next 11 years. In 2019 it was then bottled in Scotland with in a limited release of only 387 bottles. As always, the whisky is presented in a stunning porcelain bottle, which is even glazed with real gold. The original cask is meant to have been no 11.
