The nose is a dream, sooo delicious ... in the mouth then a small spice explosion, the fresh wood says hello, but the vanilla pastry, flower and fruit combo from the nose is here again present. For his barely 12 years he also has an amazingly intense, but very fine finish ... I'm just Lowlander fan, because you can do nothing! ;-)))
    • Nose
      91 91
Rose petals, violets and jasmine, vanilla, acacia honey, hay, lemon peel, vanilla kipper, oatmeal, nutmeg, linseed oil, olive oil, white peach, mirabelle plum, apple, galia melon, canned pineapple, ever warmer and more syrupy, more jasmine, more vanilla, some varnish, cardamom , Coconut, a trace of freshly ground coffee beans, then banana and pinewood, buttery, cracked young twigs, mint, marzipan
    • Taste
      89 89
spicy with nutmeg, cinnamon, coffee, a little chili, then comes back to the vanilla and the viscous sweetness, vanilla kipper, fresh from the oven, a lot of jasmine tea (black), rose tea, coconut, banana, then only the other fruits are pushing Peach, galia melon, lemon forward, the second sip is leinölig, spicy, sweet, fruity, the fresh cask now fully through, again with coffee and chili and nutmeg; in the background always the syrupy vanilla sweet ... custard, creamy, with coffee beans - a piece of scented butter croissants and warm apple compote with cinnamon ... the lemon appears again, but not dominant, then some licorice and a hint of mint, followed by pine and pineapple (now freshly cut)
    • Finish
      90 90
medium; extremely jasmine and violet, vanilla, acacia honey, coffee with cream, mint, lemon oil, linseed oil, light hay ... marzipan and a hint of white pepper

fresh, bright fruits, sweet, freshly sliced apple, baked apple, apple raisin cake, creme brulee, custard, canned mandarins, very sweet exotic fruits, very sweet pineapple, butterscotch, cereal and pastry notes ... and then comes after some Time a buttery note about it. I love this note, as it reminds me of many things from childhood, especially the rice pudding of the grandma with melted, "brown" butter on cinnamon and sugar, all in all a very tasty, balanced and amazingly changeable nose for 12 years

initially quite spicy and full in the onset, then quickly softer, sweet custard cake, oak shows here for the first time, floral notes, bright, citrus-rich fruits, lime, lemon drops, again buttery-creamy, slightly herbaceous herb-heavy

... but unfortunately diluted to 46%, but I find that less in terms of the flavor density and the light profile.

medium length with comparably distinct oak flavor for an ex-bourbon ripening, the association of lemon sweets continues, candy store, chocolate, dry, cereal notes

I think I can not describe by any notes how incredibly tasty this nose comes from. With time and a little warmth, this nose develops so nicely that you just get a dripping tooth and do not want to wait to drink. This sweet sweet butternote has not left my head for days (first tasting). At first I had "only" respect for the philosophy of Daftmill, but it shows to me that this patience, the long maturation (for a new distillery), the long fermentation period, the good barrels, the local cereals, the traditional storage, etc condenses in a great malt.
Perhaps this light lowland profile of ex-bourbon barrels is no longer something for everyone today, as most are looking for the dark sherry soup. And perhaps Daftmill gets too many flowers from me with this one bottling (after all, this is the best bottling of the distillery to date). However, this whisky surprised and convinced me. Hats off, Daftmill!

A great whisky that I loved immediately. Seldom have aromas lingered in my taste memory for so long after a tasting. Chapeau Daftmill!
    • Nose

Wonderfully intense aromas flow towards me - liquid dessert. Sweet, cooked custard, a dash of citrus, sweet white wine - late harvest, all backed by a nice spice.
With a little water, numerous fruit flavors are added: strawberry, honeydew melon, canned fruit. Floral notes. The custard is now refined with cinnamon in melted butter.
      A big movie theater!
    • Taste

Oily, voluminous and very creamy in the mouth. Sweet. Bourbon vanilla, melon, tropical fruits, some fresh citrus, milk chocolate, some cocoa powder and seasoning.
    • Finish
      89 89
Medium length, creamy, still the vanilla, baked cocoa, chocolate and subtle oak spice. Makes you want to more!

Nose: Intense and full of buttery cake dough, vanilla, cane sugar, oatmeal and a handful of dry sawdust. There are very subtle overripe bananas. At the same time the nose has something dark of sweetened espresso. Everything fits together perfectly and you really just want to smell and not drink at all. Over time, the malt wins a little more. A slight mineral note, and clear citrus notes come through. Reminds me of lemon tart. The empty the glass, the more flowery and sweeter the nose becomes.

Taste: Perfect drinking strength and great hold! Creamy, sweet and spicy - typical of a first-fill exBourbon cask. There's vanilla, of course, and the butter. But on the fruity side, too, the Daftmill has something to offer, although sometimes rather discreet. The citrus aromas are clearly recognizable. In the background I also find yellow apples, yellow kiwi and honeydew melon. There are also some kitchen herbs like rosemary.

Finish: medium, cake dough, grapefruit, dry wood and white pepper.

    Color: White Wine

Daftmill itself has a unique flavor, the Winter Batch has in my opinion of the previous bottlings the most balance between fragrant nose and spicy taste. According to Maltmadness.com, Messrs. Cuthbert initially struggled to come up with sensible refill barrels, and the tannin load is also noticeable in previous bottlings, and after 20 years, probably all would be untrinkable. With a refill and a few more years in the barrel, you will certainly be able to create the 90+ dream fabric that your nose already promises. I wish me good health until then and the necessary change for one of these bottles ...
    • Nose
There is much more power behind the Winter Batch, a cooling, buttery cloud hits me, musk, Nivea cream, then a load of "overripe" silage, besides sage also thyme, hawthorn blossom - almost foul -, oatmeal, dry apricots and sourdough. After Eight. With water: Ripe apples, wet autumn leaves, toffee.
    • Taste
Oatmeal with sage and butter, no dry wood far and wide, malt, lilac blossom, bitter almonds, more and more foul, again sourdough, then silage, quite sweet, always oily, mint. Lime juice. With water: He tolerates quite well, but he does not need, oily, floral, at the same time bitter.
    • Finish
Medium. At the beginning floral, then resinous, musk, coffee, towards the end almost too dry.

  6. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

The consistency of the whisky is almost syrupy. Apart from the grandiose Inaugural release, this one also does not disappoint. The actually tender Lowland flavors are contained here in an incredible intensity. An intense "lighter" Lowlander. Can I have some more, please!
    • Nose
Cereals, citrus, honey, liquorice, intense, slightly floral, on the verge of perfumed, but still in the frame. After 10 minutes, the nose opens again and becomes incredibly soft, sweet, fresh pastries, vanilla, subtle lemon oils. A real highlight.
    • Taste
Strong, spicy, oily, sweet and heavy, although it's rather light flavors. An oily fruitiness, citrus, tart oak, white pepper.
    • Finish
Herb, citrusy, citrus peel, some mint, but also mild, syrupy, the oak flavor remains for a very long time, along with a subtle citrus note.

  7. Gloin scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

The smell is a prime example of a younger whisky from an ex-Bourbon barrel: fresh, fruity, intense. I do not want to stop smelling.
The taste does not lag behind and delivers what the smell has promised.
The finish is the perfect ending for a very good whisky!
    • Nose
Fresh, grassy, green apple, lime, a little caramel, some fresh sawdust, pear, tangerine, all in all very fruity.
    • Taste
Soft body, medium onset, delicately astringent, sourish, green apple, mirabelle, spicy, light bitterness, then getting sweeter
    • Finish
Amazing spicy and oaky, tart, light beer, some citrus, noticeable bitterness

    the nose is absolutely TOP
    • Nose
Vanilla and will be strong, pear, caramel, slightly oak will be more, spicy oak, sweetness, slightly licorice, exotic fruit, baking apple, peach

Späer: Spices (cinnamon, ...), dark honey, peach, Buttergebäcke a broadside with shortbread, Danischbuttercookies, Butterspekulazius!

Here I think of a waffle with vanilla cream.

      from the 1920 Blendersglas:
very light fruit, a lot of malt, prickles, raspberry is more, slightly cold ash, vanilla comes
