Perfectly integrated alcohol and with an interesting flavor development, this is great cinema. Reminds me of the best of the old Bunnahabhain XVIII and the Clynelish SV WID: 121497

Nose

Dark fir honey, a touch of burned matches, beautiful block malt wax note, overall heavy spice with dried apricots and leather

Taste

Very soft and mouth-filling, quite a lot of beeswax flavors, and after an initial sweetness getting spicier with cardamom cinnamon notes and preserved dried fruit, tingles a bit

Interesting, layered dram. It needs water, imperative in my opinion and if you like the strong liquorice notes, a very good dram. I like a little less liquorice, so it's still good and tasty.

Nose

Sweetish, but also dry, nutty sherry notes, not so fruity at all, the wood brings a nice spice here. All in all nicely interwoven. With water, the nose becomes more open, fuller, liquorice and a clearer sweetness can now be felt.

Taste

In the mouth with bite, it tolerates water. With water only a bit peppery, sweet sherry, some sulfur and dry oak with some aniseed.

Finish

The finish still tends to be sweet, but the dry oak, liquorice and sherry notes clearly pull it on the less sweet side.

Really really very successful. So vinous! And the strawberries are just great! 89 points.

Nose

Sherry. Very vinous. Strawberries, raspberries, fresh and clack. Slightly cooling. Subtly sweet. Gradually the oak seasoned more and more. The initially clear sherry character goes back a bit, but it remains very vinous.

Water: It gets a bit musty. The whisky looks less fresh and crisp, it looks "older".

Taste

Full and powerful. The strawberries here too. Sparkling. The oak is very present. A slight bitterness spreads. Spicy tobacco and dark chocolate dominate in the taste.

Water: With water, the whisky is downright soft and creamy. The bitterness goes back a bit, but a sweetness sneaks in. Worth it!

Finish

Long, warm, chocolatey. Coffee. Strawberries. Great.

Great Linkwood with a nice balance between aroma density and alcohol content. Harmonizes very nice.

Nose

Dark sweet forest honey,
beautiful, interesting malt.
A full heavy spice with dry oranges, apricots and tobacco. In addition ripe bananas and waxnotes.

Taste

Pleasantly soft with a full mouthfeel, tingling sweet, but a bit tart with waxy notes and spices, plus a few fruits.
Everything was well balanced. Nothing superimposed, nothing is imposing. Nice round thing.

Finish

Departure again a bit short for me. The beautiful full mouth feeling fades quickly, but overall it sounds nice. Fruit and sweetness give way to a slightly sharper, peppery sensation.

A nice note of sherry at the beginning with some leather and chocolate. Grapes and a hint of sulfur are noticeable. The fruit note is amazing next to jam I have a nice fruit salad in my nose. Finally, caramel and some furniture polish follow.

Right at the beginning I have beautiful dark berries and grapes on the palate, again with a touch of sulfur (not annoying). I still taste something fresh, is there menthol? Now the nut / nougat and chocolate come through. Then I have Turkish fruits, tobacco and a touch of liquorice.

Pleasantly warming with rich sherry notes and oak, becoming slightly dry but not bitter but rather creamy.

An incredibly balanced and quite complex malt that I really like!

very tasty malt with an interesting light sulfur note. However, the sherry ripening predominates and beautiful sherry notes develop. Very tasty.

Nose

first of all there is a slight smell of burned sticks which quickly dissipates. Then there are notes of sherry, dried fruits, plums, raisins, slightly sweet, later there are some spicy oak notes, the alcohol is quite well integrated and not intrusive. Slightly citrus fruit at the end

Taste

Again the burned matches, but then quite quickly, intense sherry and dried fruits, very spicy to hot, oak. Here the alcohol burns a bit on the tongue. Slightly nutty and malty, also a bit sweet

Finish

here again the light sulfur, then a lot of dried fruits, nutty, malty. Then spicy oak aromas and warming. Quite long.

Beautiful sherried Linkwood with an expressive nose and a fascinating mouthfeel. Not one for every day and enemies of sulfur notes should be careful. For me it's all good and pretty complex. Full review (in german): https://keinehalbendrinks.de/2019/11/06/into-the-linkwoods/

A lumbering whisky, definitely needs time, water and leisure - 30.11.2019

Nose

Heavy, old sherry, deep red cherries, block malt, dark chocolate, licorice, wine gum, dried beech wood, smoldering match, slight perfume note, after a longer period of time unfold beautiful fruit flavors such as honeydew melon, pineapple, apricot, the alcohol stands out a bit

Taste

Very fruity, sweet and spicy, cherries, dried fruits, licorice, in addition to the old, dense sherry notes, the alcohol stands out, depending on the form of the day sometimes even less intensive, ending with herbal notes

Nose

Gunpowder, burned fireworks. Spirited raisins. Copper coins. Behind it are red apples and cherries. Some shoe polish.

Taste

Sweetish, oily, spicy. Dried apricots, raisins, black pepper. Malt beer. Leather. Garden soil, dusty gravel.

he really wants some water otherwise he is just too hard and closed. Also on the palate he is demanding - exciting and delicious but iwie not a piece of easy drinking

dense heavy (dark) sherry, black cherry jam, blackberry pulp, wax and shoe polish, wholemeal bread crust with toasted notes, orange oil, tree sap, sourdough, delicate tea and floral notes, grape sugar, cherry candy, a hint of match - which stands out more clearly with the addition of water

dense and powerful, dark berries and cherry notes, slightly dry, astringent, birch water, tree bark, on the palate I find the alcohol is not optimally involved - you have it with very small sips or more water off, with more water it is then out of round in the mouth - Tannins that bite into the tongue, chili, pepper, rosemary

That's a sulfur bomb. If you do not like it, you can safely ignore it. If you fight through the sulfur, there is a lot to discover. Unfortunately, this match note makes it much harder to decode.

Only with a little water does the whisky open and release a nice mixture of sherry, leather and wood.
