    Compared to the Lp9 which I also like this has much more quality and balance probably due to the maturity. Simply outstanding!

    Very good, a great Laphroaig with more elegant peat and no overpowered modern style sherry influence.

      A bit young (like 10YO OB), but very peaty, some sherry, dried fruits and dates, iodine, sherry+peat combo is very decent, not bad at all. Oranges and smoky salty fish
    • Taste
      A bit dull, oaky, a touch of off-notes, but still a lot of dried fruits, not much peat, some mints
    • Finish
      Mint, grape skin, little smoke

    SMWS Tasting Notes: A stunning nose of black olives and tropical fruit syrups. Notes of watermelon, guava and passion fruit. Then rock pools, gentle tar, sardines in olive oil, salted flatbreads, pickled onion, lemon jelly and iodine. There’s even a touch of rancio which is mad rare in Islay whisky. Standing on the end of a pier. Water unveils salted almonds, kippers, kiln smoke, preserved lemons, green olives in brine, cullen skink, cider apple, wildflowers and hessian. To taste there is an initial jet of boiler smoke then pineapple chunks, lavender oil, smoky barley, hay loft, sandalwood ash, beach pebbles, earthy turmeric, orange peel and heather honey. Water gives us smoked eucalyptus, menthol tobacco, unlit cigar, peat embers, ointments, gauze, elderflower and mineral bath salts. Stunning! Matured for 19 years in a bourbon hogshead before transfer to a 1st fill oloroso hogshead.
