Yesterday I had the Bunnahabhain 9yo for the first time in the glass. Undiluted, he was too pointed. Today tasting again, this time with a small pipette full of water (about 1 1/2 teaspoons on 3cl).
Pearmust and fresh tree bark. Fresh grass cut vanilla, caramel. Marzipanbrot. Removes smoke; but really only very far away.
Even with the above amount of water still very strong in the beginning - no wonder at 58.9 vol .-%. Vanillin, almonds, hazelnuts, marzipan, fresh Hefezopf. With a few more splashes of water, it opens up even more, gets even nuttier, delivers orange peel, honey, some beeswax. Now pretty dry.
Medium-long and dry finish. Here you can once again perceive a hint of smoke. Nutty, filled with orange jelly biscuits, marzipan.
