Whisky Reviews for Kavalan Sherry Oak
5 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 86.63 points
- Appearance: Very dark mahogany, thick and very slow legs and very calm in the glass after panning.
Nose: very heavy in the nose. Slightly nutty with simultaneous sweetness. Goes a little towards jam. Raisins and ripe, red fruits. Maybe some cherry or plum.
With some time and water take over first herbs, a light fruit with some chocolate but remains.
Palate: pretty strong start and poof is the young. Nevertheless, quite a lot of wood and bitterness in the first sip. Prickelt quite a long time after the first sip, but not very pleasant.
The second sip of water has a more leisurely start with fruity sweetness, however, the metallic of the youth comes back and also the bitter pimples.
Finish: Medium length, very bitter and slightly dry.
Conclusion: good, but not more. The nose is really good to very good, but expresses the taste (especially the youth) the overall but clearly .... A great pity, especially if you have the soloist bottlings in mind (I know, is also a huge price difference)
Sherry, dark fruits, blackberries, nutty, marzipan
Dark fruits, oak, chocolate, plums, raisins
Long, fruity with oak
For the short age a madness - drops
