  1. Dre73 scored this whisky 83 points Connoisseur

The nose is by far the best part of this whisky, the base of the taste is pleasant, but to much watered down, and therefore too pale and weak.
    • Nose
      85 85
Full of fruits, oranges. Floral too, and sweet: honey, vanilla. Alcohol pretty prominent in the nose for this low Abv.
    • Taste
      81 81
Pretty pale and soft, only a very little tickering of pepper. Oranges, sweet as well, honey, and some caramel.
    • Finish
      82 82
A little more pepper now, some sweet, some honey and some light oranges. A bit of caramel, and pretty short finish.

Amber color. There is a certain oilyness.
    • Nose
      81 81
Pretty sweet. Lots of fruit. Rather mature. Peaches and apricots. Honey. A pinch of spices. Cinnamon. Then the fresher fruit of the orchard. Apples, rather red. A little yeast dough. Vanilla. Maybe some pears. Lots of cinnamon. Caramel.
    • Taste
      74 74
Sweetish at first. Caramel. Honey. Ripe fruit, yellow. Peaches. But a lot of barrel comes in pretty quickly. Bitterness. Not very pleasant. Traces of cocoa and very bitter coffee, but from an old barrel. A pinch of spices. Cinnamon. Light oily. Maybe a little waxy. For the second sip a little more sweetness, but later the used barrel dominates anyway.
    • Finish
      76 76
Bittersweet. A pinch of spices. White pepper. Cocoa. Dark chocolate. The bitterness of the barrel, but in a better way than on the tongue. There is not much going on and not very intense. Medium-short.

N: Alcohol, sweet, green apple, pears, malt, light oak notes

P: Citrus fruit, spicy oak, tasty, sweet, no complexity tho

    F: Medium, quite unremarkable

  5. GridHunter scored this whisky 52 points Member Senior

Pleasant enough initially but quickly sours with time and air, resulting in a white white taste that dominates any other notes. Mouthfeel is thin, the finish is deeply unpleasant. Very cheap and nasty.

My first tasted GOT. I´ve expected more from Glendullan.

Nose: Hm, malt. Yo. And soap, with a lot of imagination, yippee. Mash and citrus notes, dangerously close to toilet detergent. Mouth: thin, bitter, mash. Charred wood, some resin. Soap. Away quickly. Charred bread. Eh, sorry, the 78 points in the base are still very generous, or my sensors are completely off today ...

The first whisky I drink from this series.
Is also one of the softer whiskys.
    • Nose
      80 80
      Is soft on the nose.
Does not immediately give you the WOW effect, but is pleasant to explore.
It is a fairly sweet whisky and you can smell it. I can certainly find some vanille, citrus, pear with caramel here.
    • Taste
      90 90
A very fresh whisky that is easy.
Again sweet in combination with fruitiness that I find.
Is easy to drink, but gives a slight burning sensation, which may indicate a little clove.
    • Finish
      85 85
Mainly the fruit and caramel that I find.
Not a very long aftertaste personally, but a nice starter.

cheap booze, a really bad whisky
    • Nose
Grass, gorse, malt, slight sweetness, looks out of round overall
    • Taste
Soapy, bubbly, alcoholic spiciness, gorse, light sweetness
    • Finish
short, gorse note sounds a bit, otherwise irrelevant

Nose: Sweet apples. Vanilla. Sugar. Some spice. Hints of smoke.

Palate: Fruity but not as sweet as the nose. Vanilla again but with a little caramel blending in. Some smoky waves. Malt coming in towards the back.

Finish: Medium. Smooth and smoky. Vanilla lingering.

Overall Score: 80. Very smooth and very tasty. It’s full flavored and very hearty. Perhaps the only thing I’d change would be the cask type. I think it would have been better suited with an oak cask.
There’s some lovely stuff in this bottle and I think I’ll go out and get another Singleton soon.

I took my time until I finally tasted the GOT whiskys and in the meantime you read more damning judgments. Here I have to say I'm positively surprised. He is quite pleasant to drink by the way, although he is not a complexity monster.
    • Nose
      82 82
Fresh and light fruity, apple, slightly artificial like apple rings, vanilla, relatively sweet, a light almond note, actually quite pleasant, some spice, a hint of wood
    • Taste
      81 81
watery mouthfeel, then creamy, sweet, fruity, ripe apple, vanilla, some light tartness, but the sweet ripe apple note dominates, some honey, also pleasant, good to drink
    • Finish
      80 80
the aftertaste is rather short, still sweet and ripe apple, a little harsher as one would chew fruit bowl

Review GoT- Glendullan - House Tully

Today I continue my journey - with the Glendullan, which stands for the already sunken house Tully in Riverrun-Schnellwasser - but later.

The nose is pleasantly sweet - caramel, vanilla, a little anise - something reminiscent of licorice, with fantasy a bit of carnation - after 15 minutes, the anise becomes stronger, otherwise the air gives him nothing - but pleasant

Taste: Pleasantly mild - The nose has light fruit and some spiciness, but very restrained - it is weaker than 40% - Likörchen. 46% would stand up to him - Volt even 50.

Finish: mild, short, angry spoken watery (The fish feels good - quick water is appropriate here, it is quickly over and watery) - here it lacks character

Total: Easy drinking - light, mild, pleasing, in my opinion suitable for beginners. Personally, I lack complexity and depth. He would not be worth the 40 € RRP - 10 € too expensive. All in all gracious 75/100, because just complacent

    Riverrun

For the longest time the Singleton of Glendullan was only available in the States, but thanks to the Game of Thrones series we too get a taste of this. By the way… did you know that the Riverrun shots were filmed at the Gosford Castle in Northern Ireland? This castle, with its 15 bedrooms, was run as a hotel since 1983, but is up for sale since 2018 for a measly half million pounds. Anyway, I digress…

Very floral and sweet nose. A touch candy-like. Spring blossoms, honey, vanilla, hint of mandarin and litchi. Coconut cookies. Light milk chocolate. Very soft on the spices.

Darn, that’s too bad! The arrival is just too light. Almost watery. The taste is a continuation of the nose – very candy-like again – but somewhat more spicy. Peper and some drying wood shavings. Honey towards the end. The mandarin evolve towards bittersweet blood oranges.

Medium long finish that offers nothing new.

This is a bit of a one trick pony if you ask me. Nothing special.
