This was a result of a H2H today all Brora and 23 year old Clynelish,
    1 - 1965 CA Nibada 23 year
    2 - 1975 RM 20 year
    3 - 1977 RM 21 year
    4 - 1977 RM 24 year
    5 - 1981 DT 25 year cask 1423
The clear winner is the 1965 here, for me this is a brora as it was distilled in the Brora stills, it is Clynelish in name only, a lovely whisky. The 75 was excellent and so to were the 1977 but the 21 year is an all round better dram than the 24 year but both are very good. The 1981 DT was not good, it was drinkable but not what I would call a Brora of note, pretty tame, hot with some off notes, I would not pay more than £125 for it, I believe I may have had a bottle of this years ago need to check that one? A great H2H for me I love Brora and when its good its excellent.

Just a small sample of this but what a pleasure, there is good whisky and then there is this stuff.

I need to try this again.

Remember this might carry the name Clynelish but this is a Brora distilled in the Brora stills, I take the view that pre 1967 Clynelish should be in the Brora section and not Clynelish.

Is it the same as 12403???

This one seems more fruity anyway this time its  better. need to try the other 65 ca again
    • Nose
A little apple, mango, fresh pineapple, hint of peach, digestive biscuits, brine & peat.

very  faint hints of petrol, perhaps a little cream?
    • Taste
Wow, perfect, thick, fruity, mouth coating, I detect no bitterness like I could on the 1965 ca WB ID 12403.

This sweet, fruit salad par excellence with some peat in the mix and it keeps growing, seems to get thicker on the tongue but it is sweet fruit, mainly white fruits with some very nice pineapple
    • Finish
Long, sweet, leaves you wanting more
