Whisky Reviews for San Graal 07-year-old

This is the second batch of San Graal, after a first batch that brought us a cask strength 5 year old. In my book, this is one of the finer things to come to the market from a Belgian distiller.
    • Nose
      87 87
At 63% alcohol volume, no-one will be surprised that the cask strength alcohol hits you first. Letting the dram rest and adding some warmth from the hands brings orange zest and a certain gingery hotness.
    • Taste
      90 90
Being cask strength, this is actually easy to drink. It brings heat to the lips of course, and the influence of the Four Roses bourbon casks is clear: vanilla and caramel are prominent, with a buttery richness. It takes some time, but then the oranges come forward, growing stronger with a second sip.
    • Finish
      90 90
The finish is long and warm. The oranges and vanilla stay with you until it fades into a woody, almost malty nuttiness.
