    Color: Chestnut / Oloroso sherry

What a stinker. Departed and unique enough for: 88P
    • Nose
Eeeek, salt and smoke attack, brine, sour, down-to-date diesel engine from yesteryear, bone-dry sherry, the Small Batch smells like honey sweet, sour oranges, unripe apples, lemon juice. Oh, zero alcohol. With water: saltier, sour-fruity, nutty.
    • Taste
Ashtray-bitter, cigarette butt with lemon juice, here is the alcohol noticeable, mouth-filling. Brazil nut, bunching green branches, yeast. With water: round, almost disgusting ashes. Polished oak wood.
    • Finish
Dry-yeast, Brazil nut, wet ash, smoke billowing from a wet-cleared campfire. Earth, charred tree bark. Long. Old leather.

A really successful Ballechin, the Manzanilla goes very well with the dirty smoke. It's all fun.
    • Nose
spicy smoke, campfire, greasy, cinnamon chocolate, whereby the cinnamon is more indicated, dark fruits, a little sour, the smoke in the nose is just great, rarely had a campfire, in addition smoked bacon, a little salt and again and again clearly light chocolate , nice, with a little more time there is also a hint of maggi and for me it is just enough like a Madeira.
    • Taste
oily, nice dirty smoke, sweet, spice, cinnamon, chocolate, nuts, roasted aromas, raisins, but not so intense, rather smooth, alcohol is well integrated, I take that with the not intense after the second sip back, here now also salt on the tip of the tongue, some oak, which brings a slightly drier mouthfeel
    • Finish
relatively nutty at the back, the smoke decreases significantly, rather creamy, light sweetness, Hanuta, roasted aromas, yes, even a little smoke

  3. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Smoked bacon, charcoal, burned grilled meat (grilled sausage), agreeably bitter and sour, the starch is correspondingly strong, fruitiness is limited, especially in the smell, but if I hold it in the mouth for a long time, raisins, plum jam, a hint of heavy red wine, dark berries ... on the finish white pepper, peppermint, charcoal - is good!

Fantastic Body on the Nose Smoked Ham, Cold Ash, Sweeeetnes ( Honey/ Maple Syrup), Pipe tobacco, Weihrauch, Smoked fish, leather, Espresso, Dark and Sour Fruits ( Brombeere, Rasperry,Cherry) - Great. Taste: Sweet, Salty, Sour ,cinnemon, currant, ham, BBQ, Dark and Sour Fruits, Choclate, Nelken, leather/ gives what it promises but looses in intensity compared to the Nose . Development/ Finish dry, ginger, oak, smoke, spices ( slight sweetness and sourness cold ashtray - bit more intensity in the taste and finish this would be 99 the nose is wonderful ;)

Unusual and very intense. The saddle leather and the espresso are the clearest for me.
Overlaid for my taste and therefore somewhat one-sided.
The smoke tends to be smoked.
    But definitely a great experience!
    Playing with water is possible.

Old leather that actually clearly reminds of a tack room. I've never found anything like this in a whisky. Generally very dry and intense! Chocolate mint candy, herbs, anise.
Smoke is closely interwoven with the dry sherry. A little getting used to.

Over time, the sherry notes become more classic. The smoke is clearly greasy. Like smoked meat.
      Herbs and spices still present.

An explosion in the mouth without water. The entire mouth is immediately lined. Again the old leather with a strong tingling. A lot of salivation. Espresso clearly. Pipe tobacco or even cigar tobacco?
A little bitterness comes with time.

The spice and the coffee remain. Is then gone after a medium time. Coffee notes are back. Very mouth filling! and intense.

I found this Ballechin really extraordinary. I don't think I had anything dirty, ashy, smoky in my glass yet. But you can't drink it too often and I think a whole 0.7 bottle would have been too much.

Oily / sooty smoke, honey-smeared ham / bacon, leather
    • Taste
      86 86
      Sweetness, ashes, forest fruits, honey
    • Finish
      87 87
Ash, light sweetness, hazelnut, and forest fruits at the very end
