A wonderful bourbon barrel maturation. Excellent balance. Not very complicated but coherent. A dram for easy slurping away without thinking much.

    Notes from a blind tasting.

The Refill Barrel also explains the old age in relation to softness, especially the oak, and the otherwise quite strong aromas with a little lack of complexity.

Very green immediately after pouring, grass, floral notes and then there are already green apples, ripe and juicy. Then lots of light honey, a hint of malt and some heather. Whole milk chocolate can also be seen. And again and again the apples as a central note. Very intense and above all very orderly for being in the glass for just a minute. After a while, very sweet and heavy, extremely dense, creamy, now less honey, but more chocolate and vanilla, creamy, and again the apples. With warmth fruity and a bit malty and honey again.

In the mouth honey and herbs at the front, chocolate, a little darker than in the nose, then also fir honey, at the back comes oak with tannins, espresso and some barrel acid. The fruity notes of the nose are not found here. The alcohol is moderately strong, the mouth feel oily. in the second sip, the acidity is more prominent from the start, but at a very pleasant level, which is a nice antipole to the sweetness.

The finish is not very long, the malt dries further, lots of oak, licorice. The chest is warmed for a long time.

Nice summery malt. Exciting nose and spicy on the palate.
    Great contrast of well harmonized.

Light, fresh with a beautiful honey sweet, summery floral notes, hay, cereals. Ripe bananas, green apple, subtle peach and mango notes.
Every now and then comes some artificial sweetness for marshmallows.
      Alcohol is well integrated.

      Sharp start, neat spice, pepper,
Here the alcohol is already more pressing.
Sparkling in the mouth comes through vanilla and the fruity sweetness. Harmonizes very well with each other.

Medium long finish, the spicy oak is dominant here. This leaves a few floral notes.

great part, unfortunately he has the typical SMWS gummy bear note from the sherry finish - for that I deduct something in the score
