  1. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

    reserved in the nose, well-tended taffy-orange-boredom, some water tickles red fruits and a light (nice) bourbon note, it goes on in the mouth, red berries, cherries, four roses single barrel, spicy, warm finish with Oak and cocoa ...
    Delicious whisky, 80 € are borderline, but not totally outrageous.
    Of the good old Bladnoch, however, unfortunately nothing is left, this is pure Fasswhisky.
    I want the corn-and-hay bladnoch again. With green labels with Muh and Mäh! Howl!

    A non-typical Lowlander - I have my difficulties with it - it artificially, applied aromas - and is much too expensive for about € 78.00!
    [Color] rose gold;
    • Nose
      fruity, vinous, grapes, dry, slightly musty and tart, a little oak;
    • Taste
      fruity at the beginning (peach, grapes), vinous, slightly oily, a little vanilla, trace of oak - no tension - somehow monotonous -
    • Finish
      at best medium length, fruity, slightly dry finish;

    At first I was rather fond of this whisky. However, after sniffing and tasting it over a longer period, parts of it (in particularly the sweetness) became less appeasing to me. It is indeed intensely sweet, although it also contains a protruding sour note that does not always comply with the sweet notes. A whisky that only fits certain moments when I am into it, and maybe a cocktail or two.

      Sweet entrance with wine, honey and sugared pears cooked in wine. This must be matured for some time in a cask that has formerly seen some sweet wine. More nuances are hidden beneath the alcohol vapours. After some time in the glass, more red fruits like cranberries, sweet red cherries, and some strawberry liquor. Lots of honey, some floral notes and a particular kind of astringent fruitiness. It is a strange one. The sour notes of the wine and the sweet notes tend to dominate the nose, which prevents it from going into more depth.

      Wine, peaches, honey, and other sweet things. Honey sweets and honey liquor. Some water brings out more floral notes. Sweet, oily and full with a mix of sweet yellow and red fruits like peaches, nectarine, sweet cherries, fresh prunes and even a hint of lychees. A drop of sunflower oil, honey, sweet cookie dough. We will be using the word sweet a lot. Golden raisins. There is some floral and even soapy current behind all the sweets fruitiness. It has also a sourish site just beside the alcohol kick. Cherry hard candies, sour candy strips, sweetened lemon juice. The after taste is sweet and sour, reasonably long and kinda strange.

    Tasted blind, but this was not a whisky I would drink again. Always a matter of taste, of course.
    • Nose
      Very rich in scents on the nose. Stew pear, sherry cask ?, vanilla, macaroons and raisins.
    • Taste
      This whisky is very sweet. I taste licorice and prunes.
    • Finish
      It reminds me a bit of a spicy sweet cough syrup.

    Sample tasted at the proefolympics, blindtasting competition. The nose was the best park, it was to bitter for me, there something wrong.

      Fruity, wood influence, some wax in it, creamy, creme brulee, pastries, dutch tompouce after a while also some meaty, little hint of sulfur, sweet, candy, dried herbs, grass.
    • Taste
      81 81
      Very different, sweet, wood, light spices, herbal, peach, not much happens. Young sharp on the tongue.
      After standing for a while, reddish fruit, slightly fleshy, sulfur and bitter. The wax-like of the nose still contains a little bit, chicory, apple juice and bitter
    • Finish
      78 78
      Bitter is more prominent, chicory, spicy, grass, black tea, dry, some mint, but the sweetness is almost gone.

    A disappointment compared to Bladnochs of this age distilled in the nineties. From grassy to grainy may seem like a futile difference, but it's very relevant to me.
    • Nose
      First grainy with wallpaper paste. Apple, light cranberry.
    • Taste
      A bit weird maltiness like rabbit food. Blueberry over it.
    • Finish
      Cranberry and malt.

    Typically Bladnoch softness, very smooth, strong Red Wine influence. Well balanced.

    I liked the 10 year old better.
    At the 17 year old you notice the influence of the red wine barrels, which is too thick.
