- La Famiglia Nostra, The Hogfather, 13 years, 2005/2018, 57.1%, 66 fl.
Color: shiny mahogany
Nose: Very beautiful speckish-salty smoky swaths surround a complex construct of aromas of sour cherries, nuts and a hint of bourbon vanilla. Spicy oak and Christmas spices complete the overall result.
Palate: In the mouth then the full power of smoked bacon and red wine. The first sip overwhelmed. The second shows a nice sweetness of dried fruits, cherries, raisins, plums. Very complex and dense.
Finish: Long, dry finish with lots of sweet dried fruit, nutty and again the bourbon vanilla. Very sweet and long. Great.
Conclusion: 89/100 points. "Amarone meets Bacon." This whisky offers not only an incredibly awesome art-work, but also very complex flavors, suitable for the Christmas season. Unfortunately, there were only 66 bottles of 350ml each. Great whisky, for the whole evening!
Buy more? Yes, I would, if I had the chance.
- Overall, very exciting and what is happening in the mouth is really great! Not only the bottle looks good, the whisky is just as great
One is directly on garbage, musty smoke, to directly strong red wine notes, dry, fruity, even the mouth is already dry when smelling, very greasy, some oak, pepper, sour red fruits, including creamy, briefly I had to think of pretzel sticks, something Vanilla behind, then nuts, sherry peeling comes through briefly, a total charge for me the nose not to stay because it is a bit too edgy and direct to me.
Also on the palate a dry start, but with a lot of volume, intense, full-bodied, fruit, red fruit, raspberry / cherry syrup, musty and greasy smoke, nicely harmonious with the dry fruit, light nuttiness, the second sip is even more intense, now sweetness , he's just exploding in his mouth, wow, now a few dark fruits too, very yummy
the nuts become clearer, over it still slightly tart red fruit, the mouthfeel is still dry, the smoke is almost gone, but in the end it is what stays longest.
