After 2 years and 6 months of storage in the barrel store, it started. At the beginning of May 2018 the “Marseille Maersk” cast off in Hamburg. A trip that was worth it for the globetrotter. The three-year storage in old wooden barrels ended with several weeks of rest in our historic grain distillery.
Aging and maturation of the whiskey takes place through oxygen, which reaches the fine rye distillate through the pores of the wooden casks. The contact with the wooden barrels toasted over an open oak fire ensures mildness and taste. The globetrotter was sent across the oceans for 100 days during its barrel maturation. The almost 100 days at sea, the rocking and lurching movements, the sea air and the temperature fluctuations caused the globetrotter's unique maturation process.
