This has really suprised me, the strength is just right, good balance, nothing out of place really, may be a bit tame for some but this is a really nice whisky, I would certainly be tempted to buy a bottle if it was about £200 pounds but over £400 it is too expensive at that price.
The first thing that came to my mind on the nose was cider vinegar, mixed with whole nut chocolate, a little spice & a little peat.
A slight orange note emerges after a while with hints of vanilla and ginger, possibly a little pepper, the nose is a little distant but certainly pleasant.
Spicy with some nice fruit like stewed mango, apple and orange.
There is a little peat and smoke but it is in the background with the sherry & fruit dominating a little but in a very good way.
Good balance and mouthfeel.
The peat and spice notes slowly keep growing with a nice dark orange marmalade note,
