    Original tasting notes from Dalmore.

A very round and accessible Single Malt. But for this price you find better alternatives, therefore my rating is rather low.

I am honest and can say that I expected more of this dram. It is not bad but for 90€ you get much better whiskies today. I cannot recommend the Dalmore 18 to be fair!
    • Nose
Fresh & Fruity, the alcohol is too dominant from my point of view. I smell peaches & oranges
    • Taste
Due to the strong alcohol smell I did not expect a smooth taste but it is there - additionally I get cinnamon and raisins in the mouth. A bit like Christmas time...
    • Finish
The finish is smooth but extremely short and nothing special to tell about it.

    Colour: Old gold-amber.
Nose: Fresh, fruity, mellow, on almonds, tangerine, with some
peach and winey flavours, with a hint of smoke.
Taste: Spicy, peppery, round, slightly rubbery and winey, on
tangerine, red fruits and some smoke. The finish is of medium length, round,
slightly bitter, rubbery and winey, on tangerine and some cinnamon powder.
General Impression: A good and pleasant Dalmore, but it would
benefit from a few extra % abv.

Complex sweet taste of anise, oak, brine, ammonium chloride, liquorice, spices (gluhwein) and butter

  17. granella2003 scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

The hobbyhorse of the Dalmore distillery, an exceptionally smooth whisky with amazing flavors. Spicy and sweet as we are used to Dalmore but with incredible depth and richness.

Has 14 years matured in American oak and then decanted to be Oloroso Spanish sherry casks. The influence of the sherry is evident in the taste, it gives a lot more depth

  18. granella2003 scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Aromas of white wine, chocolate and almonds with hints of butterscotch and walnuts
    • Taste
An excellent flavor, soft in texture, extremely rich, nuts, vanilla, toffee, lavender and oak are present complemented by notes of chocolate, leather, coffee and raisins with a rich array of various herbs
    • Finish
The long finish with hints of sherry and cloves fits perfectly with the palate and you will surely remember.

  19. Jonkers scored this whisky 77 points Expert Senior

The nose is the best part of this whisky. Because of that, the balance is not that good.
    • Nose
very, very small hint of smoke, like roasted meat. Oak and vanilla. A bit salty and tingling. Also some butter, pineapple and caramel. A hint of chocolate and raisins. Fresh !
    • Taste
oily. Lots of vanilla, a slight of pepper and some spices (cinnamon). Malt and macaroons.
    • Finish
starts with some spices and a little pepper. After that sweetness. Vanilla and snappy. The end is a little bitter.

  20. D3US scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

I'm a supporter of Dalmore and this expression doesn't disappoint. The finish is by far the least enjoyable feature of this whisky, making it a risk not to be remembered for that. Still, the taste is wonderful and that's a fact.
    • Nose
Sherry, spices, dark fruits, malt. Still some freshness to it, together with the 'dark' aromas of chocolate, sultana's, coffee, cinnamon, burnt sugar etc.
    • Taste
Quite some sherry, but there's definite new oak in the background. Still the dark aromas are there, together now with (to me) signature Dalmore maltiness. A bitter edge makes this more pleasant than expected, and the honey sweetness with the spice and dark fruits makes this an excellent malt.
    • Finish
Medium length, unfortunately. The nice mix of aromas and the complexity dies out very quickly, leaving a malty, quite watery aftertaste. Pity.

A great expression, beautiful packaging and only 3000 bottles!

  23. I_SPEY scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

The nose is sweet, with lots of sherry, spicy orange peel and toffee. The palate has lots of citrus fruits, mild oak, sherry and marzipan  The finish is rather long, with fine notes of coffee, dark chocolate and my favorite marzipan!
    Thanks for the sample JK.

"The latest expression of Dalmore is an 18yo, and it`s just as smooth,

spicy and sweet as fans of this distillery would hope. Bottled at 43%,

which is a great step forward for owners W&M, but we can`t help

thinking this would be even better at 46%."
