Prunes, After Eight wrappers, white pepper, raspberries, strawberries, turmeric, some damp cellar. Average sweetness. A solid, and very approachable, whisky.

pleasant with notes of sherry, light sweetness, dried fruit, oak, hint of vanilla (fruit cake)
    • Taste
      85 85
Oak, sweet-tart-sweet, dried fruit, sherry, oak, barrel and a hint of coffee. Slight alcoholic sharpness.
Enjoyed in small sips: sweet-tart-sweet, sherry, dried fruit, still slightly spicy. Bittersweet with oak, a hint of cocoa / chocolate.
Pleasant in itself but also a bit impetuously because of the slight alcohol sharpness ...
    • Finish
      86 86
delicately tart with oak, trace of chocolate, sherry, dried fruit. Decaying soft with fine oak notes. At the end a hint of malty and again with very subtle aromas of dried fruit.

A secretive who reluctantly reveals his literally dark content: dry sherry notes first, then a musty wine cellar and freshly sawn oak; a touch of vanilla passes by, some sulfur is noticeable; only after a while does the room open, where you can find cherries with chocolate (Mon Cherie?), raisins, prunes and other dried fruits. - It is not easy to crack, but it pays to invest a little patience - the result is a quite complex and delicate range of flavors.

In the mouth, it is sweet and auspicious on the tongue in the beginning, but it then tilts immediately to dryness and the taste is reduced to wood notes of mocha and dark chocolate. In terms of volume, it leaves a little to be desired.

The finish is medium to long and bone dry with spicy roasted espresso and unsweetened cocoa; At the very end there is still a hint of sour cherries and figs.
    • Nose
      90 90
dark, almost exclusively dry sherry notes, a certain coyness, a hint of vanilla, a little sulfur; late, but then clear: sour cherries, raisins, prunes
    • Taste
      88 88
short sweet on the tongue; The taste spectrum is then reduced quickly to only dry oak notes of mocha and dark chocolate
    • Finish
      88 88
medium to long and bone-dry; at the end a little more sour cherry and dried fig

I had shared this bottle and annoyed me in hindsight that I only had 5cl myself.
Blend or not, this one is really a Schmackofatz.
You have to say that of course you also know which distillery it is and at Macallan and Highland Park are the expectations accordingly large.
Supposedly 90% Macallan and 10% HP ... well I do not believe it.
    • Nose
      90 90
Immediately there are associations with roasted almonds from the carnival, more precisely sweet roasted aromas.
Then continue with raisins, rum pot and wet wood.
Altogether for his scarce 44% nevertheless quite heavy and dark.
I definitely have the heather from the HP and harmonizes wonderfully with the other flavors such as lemon drops, red but not too old fruits, leather and forest soil.
There is a lot to discover and also my morning chocolate cereal I have.
    • Taste
      89 89
Dark chocolate is the first thing I have on the palate and the fruits have become darker and are cooked.
Leathery and nutty he is here, with a slight floral touch in the background.
Not quite as diverse as the nose, but then it joins Orange
Maybe 3% would have done him better
    • Finish
      88 88
      medium
Dry through some oak, the lemon from the nose appears again, but overall full-bodied and you "chew" for a while like it around.

Old Perth 14 blended malt (Macallan/highland park) 43.7%

N: It reminds me of an old cognac right off the bat. It’s grapey...also some earth, pipe tobacco, new leather, coffee, vanilla, and dark chocolate.

P: Somehow sweet and dry at the same time. Dark chocolate with its bitterness, vanilla, chimney smokein the distance. Thin mouthfeel. A little prune, but no berries here. It’s all about dry roasted flavours.

F: Feels a bit thin, with cigar spice, tannin, wisp of smoke. Leaves your mouth bone dry.

Thoughts: Very tasty and easy drinking dram. It’s a bit thin but nice flavours all around!

What an interesting whisky. I find it completely absent of the berry type flavours sherry is known for and full of dry, roasted coffee, tobacco, cocoa, leather...very interesting and the bottle is disappearing fast...

    86/100

In comparison to other old blends I would put it slightly below all the other xos (whisky fässle, whisky agency, Tokyo rivers, eiling lim) but above the infamous 22 year.

Edit: Having spent more time with this I would knock a few points off. It is pretty flat after getting a little air.
