I had tried it before, let's see if the impressions match and yes, I remembered correctly. It definitely needs water for me ... Then it wins a few points in taste and finish.

    Notes from two blind tastings:
    • Nose
      88 88
At first it was cooling in the nose, but the alcohol did not sting and you could smell the whisky pleasantly. Red fruits dominate, paired with the sweetness of vanilla and, with a little water, marzipan. As a counterpoint, there is a slight herbal impact. Later, a salty note is added and the whole thing changes from sweet to salty.

I also like the smell on the second impression. Is beautiful and varied, without any missing notes.
    • Taste
      87 87
The whiksy runs thickly over the tongue and it becomes instantly very dry. A fruity wave of red berries rolls over your cheeks. With a little water you can leave the whisky in your mouth longer, then there is leather and liquorice on top.
    • Finish
      86 86
Leaves a pleasant medium-long, leathery finish. Every now and then the red berries flash.

A malt that often changes according to the shape of the day.
Not so sweet on the nose. In addition to the grape notes, there is also a lot of seasoning and also alk. Some vanilla and dark honey
Mouth: sweet and tart approach. Strong and oily, but drinkable despite 60%. You can clearly see the Sauternes. A little mountain cheese, grapes, honey, herb meadow and lots of wood.
Yes, you can tell that it is fully ripened. Looks more violent than 10y suggest.
Departure is long. Dry but also grape notes remain on the palate.

I think the malt is very successful. Absolutely not mainstream, quite complex and definitely one of the better Sauternes I've had so far. Fortunately CS and not reduced.
    Edradour and Weincasks just fits.
