Whisky Reviews for Longrow 2002 CA

A chameleon: In the nose still "dark", spicy, earthy, the sherry barrel on the tongue provides plenty of sweetness that you could not expect after the nose in this form. A nice longrow from the sherry barrel. For me personally, it should have been a little less sweet.

Heavy notes of sherry-soaked raisins and dried figs. Fine smoky note. Earthy. You do not have to pronounce the nasty word "sulfur", but at the beginning, freshly poured, you might get the impression that it might be contained. But this only for a few seconds, then evaporates this assumption and in the nose is instead a strong woody note and some furniture polish. Leather and tobacco notes, together with the smell of cold coffee, nougat, pepper and nutmeg, form the image of a dark, heavy whisky.

Strong and oily onset - and how sweet, almost sweetish, the sherry urges on the tongue. Fresh sawdust, leather and tobacco notes. Dark chocolate. Marzipan. The sweetness establishes itself as black cherry, sweet sultanas and dried dates. Although on the tongue with a certain spiciness (pepper, nutmeg), the nose was still spicy.

Medium long and just a little dry. The sweet cherries have an effect, the smoky note, which was not recognizable on the tongue at the beginning, shows itself quite clearly in the end.

Someone likes it a lot, but not me
    • Nose
Peaty and very young, red fruits, rather a modern style sherried dram, maybe because of a hogshead.
    • Taste
Peat and modern sherry, a touch of sulfur, leather and orange
    • Finish
      Short, red fruits, tea
