    Great Clynelish, who in my opinion can almost go near his ingenious sister barrel SV 11230. Slightly less pronounced fruit flavors and less fullness separate it for my taste but of this.

      After a while, the first things are the development of concrete aromas. At first, there is a mineral barrel note that conveys a set age, followed by clean sherry notes, wax, pleasant furniture polish, subtle honey.
      Later fruits are added, raspberries and strawberries are in the background, spice mixes with the mineral and subtly bitter notes, marzipan.
    • Taste
      92 92
      Creamy texture, oily, wax, subtle bitterness mixes with raspberries, strawberries and cherries, some coffee or tea, nut and light dryness. Salt, something maritime, without any false note.

      Some water im gives an excellent depth, complexity and clearer fruitiness.

      Medium to long, balanced with bitter and fruity aromas, dry, mineral then tobacco, figs, red berries and slight sweetness.

    Beautiful dark brownish tone, which instantly instantly arouses appetite for the malt and so does not make you think of Refill. 23 years of maturation, best age. I let the malt breathe for quite a while and also calmly come to operating temperature, because I'm really very curious. Even the first nose betrays, rich sherry aromas without junk notes. Above all - no sulfur! Relief is spreading. I always associate Clynelish with wax and coast notes, full body and full intensity. Reasons why the distillery was very popular with blenders in the past. Here I take in latte, a pinch of salt and a nice, deep, strong sherry note. Oloroso would be my tip. In addition, Christmas spices, a slowly baking dough and warm orange liqueur. Is there anybody preparing crêpes suzettes?

    palate
    On the palate, our subject spoils immediately with an oily lushness and intensity, which I, and I do not really like the term, can only describe as wonderfully full-bodied. Classic Olorosonoten also lead on the palate. Add to that a taste and a feeling on the tongue, as if one enjoys an edge fresh stone oven bread. Covered with salted butter, which slowly begins to melt. The dark crust cracking hard, still slightly floury and just delicious. Associations with dark blackberries and sweet milk coffee in the background. Brandy beans and old rum I write down. I also perceive oak flavor, but never unpleasant bitterness or even woodiness. At the risk to repeat myself: just delicious!

    Finish / Conclusion
    Even in the third discipline, the reverberation, nothing to complain about. Long and sweet, the malt spreads on the palate, as one usually knows about a good cognac. Much less dry than expected. Sticks formally in the oral cavity and yet remains elegant and balanced in the flavors. Towards the end it then disappears calcareous-mineral. Everything as it should be.

    Clynelish is absolutely not in my focus, but I like "fat" sherry malt ... This bottling is characterized by wonderful sherry aroma, harmoniously balanced and extremely delicious!

    • Nose
      Dark copper shimmers slightly reddish in the Premium Snifter, and a viscous streak sticks to the glass wall. Roasted aromas and creamy hazelnuts dominate the first contact with the nose, sweet strawberries and raspberries come into their own, hints of sour cherries and milk chocolate, the subtle fruit aromas make you hungry for more. Morello cherries, mandarins and oranges, subtle caramel and a slightly musty hint of leather and fresh mint slowly stimulate the saliva. Velvety vineyard peach joins the intensely cherry note, sweetly invites the wonderful nose for a first sip ...
    • Taste
      The first sip flows through the mouth, creamy and sweet. Whole milk chocolate, vineyard peach, roasted hazelnuts, sour cherries and caramel end subtly sharp on the tongue after what feels like an eternity. A pinch of pepper is released from the waxy base, spicy wood tones play with honey and dried berries, decayed hints of wet leather, hints of mint and menthol. The flow of saliva is almost unchecked at the moment, sweet grapes and berries stick to the palate, whole milk chocolate and sour cherries combine mandarins and peaches, caramelized sugar sticks to the palate.

      Wax, honey, hazelnuts, creamy wood tones, sour cherries and vineyard peaches rest on the tongue. The aftertaste is relatively short, but voluminous and characterized by a wonderful sherry aroma. Sweet, slightly musty and musty, but that's exactly what I love ...

    First clear notes of sherry, caramel, brown sugar, raisins on the nose. Some alcohol, but I'll give it 5 minutes in the glass ...
    Ah and now there are the mineral and salty aromas, plus light beeswax and dark forest honey.
    Slightly peppery in the mouth, with a bit of fire, with a strong sherry-heavy flavor. Lots of dark honey, some spices, candied plums and plums. I don't think much of the Clynelish, it's just slightly salty and maritime. Some coffee, and then again the dark forest honey that covers the whole mouth space.
    The finish sticks for a long time, has a slight sharpness on the palate and, in addition to the still dominant honey, is also slightly bitter. Espresso, salt, chocolate.

    Delicious, but for me a little bit of the distillery character.

    N-91, T-89, F-89 for a great 90 points.

    It lies smoothly in the glass and immediately exudes a pleasant sherry aroma. A wonderful, dark shade and elegant legs, which conjure up beautiful windows on the glass wall after swinging and lean towards the glass floor increase my anticipation.

    Sherry on the nose. Sated but not exuberant. The usual suspects like raisins, prunes, dates stand in the way of leathery acidity. Subtle mint notes enveloped in the smell of melted chocolate. The 54.2 vol. % are beautifully integrated, wonderfully transport the aromas. Over time, the slightly sour note evaporates, but I like it and honey sweetness becomes noticeable. The wonderful sherry aroma offers everything a lover of such malts appreciates, but without crushing the whisky, without appearing to be artificial. Truly a great nose that shows a slightly mineral note after long nosing.
    Sweet and mineral acid "dance" around the leather armchairs of an old library. Very, very tasty.

    It is creamy and strong, pleasant tingling on the tongue without burning on the palate. The dark fruits lose out against nut flavors and barrel flavor. Cherry stones flash briefly before hazelnut flour, Brazil nut and almond chocolate take over. The chocolate becomes bitter and coffee, espresso initiate the aftertaste.

    The long, warm finish is dominated by pleasant, bittersweet chocolate notes. Dryness sets in. The tongue becomes slightly furry, as if it were lightly dusted with cocoa powder. Hot dark chocolate with cream and a dash of alcohol, rum rosin and again cocoa powder keep dryness and make the teeth look dull. The chocolate fur stays present for a long time. Wonderful.

    The refill sherry butt has done a great job in 22 years. It offers everything the "sherry nerd" likes without being pushy.
    Sweet and sour dark fruit, strong onset and a chocolatey, cocoa-bitter finish make the malt a remarkable experience.
    Highly earned 90 points.
