- A masterpiece. immediately fills your mouth with a powerful pleasant smoke, without any uncomfortable discrepancies. Also a whisky that won't leave you alone and keeps giving long after it's gone.
- Beautifully balanced from the first sip, transports me to Christmas no matter the time of year, full-bodied, fruity and oily, whilst remaining rich and approachable
A plethora of flavors with beef jerky, raisins, damp forest floor must, fruit cake, peat, cigar boxes, apple wood, walnuts, parma violets, a strangely pleasant note of nail polish remover, spent fireworks, bonfires, and lapsang souhong tea
Dark chocolate, dates, treacle, browned butter, vanilla, sweet tobacco, maritime salt, and lemon tang
Long drying tannic finish, with hints of light spice, sweet honey, butter and smoke
Smoke, sea freshness, ointment of Vishnevsky, medical bandage, red berries leafs, mint, basil. At the end red berries and tofee
Sweet, strong, smoke, red berries, toffee
Long-lasting, sweet, light bitter, smoke
- A very nice full bodied Ardbeg! Very beautifull integration of the sherry wood finish. Compared to the Corryvreckan, this one is without a doubt the better of the 2.
Initialy it’s got the same candied driven smell with freshly baked cake. But after it opens up a little more it reveals beautifull subtle sherry notes, dried red fruits and ‘harder’ spices. It’s a complex nose. A lot going on inhere. With water it keeps having the thick full bodied experience and clear notes of a campfire come through.
Again it’s Full bodied. A nice thick mouthfeel. Subtle sherry notes accompanied with beautifull hints of burning wood in a fireplace.
Quite long actually. It gives vanilla, burnt wood and a buttery mouthfeel. The peat completes the finish and stays with you for quite a while.
