That didn't really convince me. It's kind of clumsy. I miss the elegance.
    • Nose
Lots of dark and spicy wood notes. In addition, memories of a clay cellar with old, slightly moldy barrels. Burnt caramel. Roasted nuts. A few dark dried fruits that are barely sweet, however. Also something like club mate. For the alcohol strength and age, the alcohol is a bit sharp.
    • Taste
The dark fruits are now a little sweeter, but also a little rotten. Plus dark honey. Additionally burnt caramel. Such a memory of smoke that reminds me a bit of incense. Again, the wood notes, which come across as dark and dull.
    • Finish
Toasted notes. Seasoning paired with wood sugar. Cinchona bark.

Very nice single grain, the barrel influence is especially noticeable in the nose, which makes it a little less complex. Still, I really like the combination of flavors.
    • Nose
very spicy wood notes, has something of soy sauce, old furniture, in the background very light aromas of sherry emerge, a little pepper and later slightly dried fruits. Slightly nutty. It takes a lot of time.
    • Taste
Somewhat damp wood, old wooden furniture, spicy bitter, fermented fruits, becoming oily creamy, leather, dark dark chocolate
    • Finish
spicy wood notes, nutty and slightly sweet which again merges into bitter, tart notes, dark chocolate, slightly oily. Notes of leather linger on the tongue for a long time

You definitely get a high quality alternative to any malt here. And at a more than fair price
    • Nose
Orange liqueur, chocolate candy and caramelized brown sugar. Light Cuban rum, like Havana Club. It has this grapevine light acidity, which probably comes from the distilled cereals - in Invergordon maize and wheat. Semolina porridge dusted with cinnamon
    • Taste
very withdrawn, not insanely voluminous, but still not boring. Definitely has less body than a malt of the same age. Dry, smooth, minimally sweet, rather spicy. Light tobacco, sandalwood and roasted chestnuts. Reminiscent of an extremely high-quality bourbon and in the meantime shows approaches of a grappa
    • Finish
sweet-spicy oak, orange liqueur and mixed nuts

This is a 30yo sherry cask whisky...for just over 100€. Ok, it's grain not malt, but boy, this one rocks. It all starts with the colour, lovely dark sherry. Overwhelming in nose and on palate, just so wonderful. Again, 30yo. Such a bargain!!

The Grain has an alcoholic note reminiscent of rum. Needs some time in the air to develop.
    • Nose
Sherry, vanilla, brown sugar, fruity, dark dried fruit, light floral note, spicy, oak
    • Taste
Vanilla, sweet, liqueur, sherry, oily, fruity spiciness
    • Finish
      Nice spice, bittersweet, oak

... reminds me of a good rum made from sherry.

    Original Tasting Notes:

Odor: Very fine and noble, nutty, dark chocolate, Brazil nut and some tobacco.

Taste: Dry and pure, bittersweet nut, green tobacco, fine woody notes, tangerine.

Spicy on the finish with honey and gingerbread. A balanced elegant single grain.
