A PX, as known from Glendronach. Something strong in the woody taste, but sherry, raisins, Christmas cookies, oranges, dark berries claim their right, but also a slight vanilla flavor, maybe coconut, suggest.

Not the best Glendronach, but still way above average, considering what the whisky world has been doing in the past few months.

My rating may not be quite objective, especially considering the much better barrel 8314 from the 1992 Glendronach.

But today in the tasting session was Ben Bracken's 30-year third occupancy, the 29-year-old Mortlach sulfur bomb in 1988 by Cadenhead, and an 18-year-old blended malt by Donatella. (Did not know that Donatella also offers whiskys without gold leaf.) Tasted everything but horrible. Who actually came up with the idea of this compilation of the sample ????

Since the Glendronach had in terms of single malt a unique selling point. Was probably not too difficult in the competition.

Old sherry strength and intense woody!

    an attractive 26 years old!
nose on the fruit walls direct, wood as well present, wet, soaked, peppery spice, a little vanilla, a little cocoa, a little grassy too, the fruits take the place on a rather delicate sensation of cooked fruit ( orange, grape, tangerine).
the mouth is in continuity with scents good but not intense, a little milk chocolate reducing the hope of a sherry marked.
the wood remains very present however
final average, a little behind, in short a disappointment after the 19 years of 1992!

Decent at best. The notes on the bottle tab are accurate, though when you have a couple of the other Glendronach casks that can stomp some power down, this one disappoints.

If my feelings change after some time open, I will come back. for now:

Nose: Muted.. Toffee, a dash of chocolate,

Mouth: A bit dull.. same as nose.

    Finish: still muted.. grassy
