This is how a Glendronach has to be. I'm not really the sherry bomb lover, but I like to make an exception for the Glendronach.

Sherry and raisins are required. Dark berries, especially blackberries, as you know them from heavy red wines, are also superficial here, paired with oranges and speculoos (?). Maybe shortbread too. Very complex, long aftertaste. And for 275.00 EUR a real snapper. Although it does not come close to the 68 to 72 Glendronachs, you shouldn't expect that with the price differences. Still an absolute class whisky.

We had this Glendronach with another 26 year old Glendronach in the tasting, a PX and a Sherry Butt. Both were great and rarely was the opinion so clear.

Sherry, dark berries, pastries, oranges, maybe some cinnamon, a little Christmas flair, light woody taste, then caramel, some vanilla.

    Hmm delicious.

Nose - Really strong nose the alcohol tickles a bit but it is covered in strong sherry aroma. Chocolate, raisins, oranges, marzipan and then this old library smell I love.

Taste - This is really thick like chocolate sauce on ice cream, which I can not only find in the mouthfell but in the taste as well. It covers your whole mouth and then the alcohol burns a bit but it is so well rounded that it is just the challenge I want from a whisky this old. This doesn't need any water.

Finish - Long, the dark chocolate transitions very well into the finish, some spice lingers for a bit and then the oak hits a little bit but never too much in my opinion.

This is the best whisky I had to date. Absolutely amazing.

I tasted this one on a blind tasting, 1 of 6 bottles.
This was the best in the lineup with Highland Park 35yo, Glenfarclas Family Cask #209 and some others. Interesting piece.

just absolutely the best spirit I've ever tasted... most amazing nose I've experienced in a whisky
    sweet, but not cloying; dark fruit, gingerbread and dark chocolate all playing on my taste buds;
finish is the best part. I need more of this dram!

Very nutty, dried fruits, raisins, old sherry, spices, nutmeg, whiffs of tobacco, dark berries, even a little port wineish - very good
    • Taste
      91 91
Oily, creamy, good sweetness, little liquorice, more dried fruits, nuts and raisins, more port wine, spices, nutmeg, hints of old wood and little rubber indeed - still good

      90 90
      Medium long, warm, spicy

A Glendronach with a lot of power and nice balance, the complexity could be a little more. Perhaps it will increase if something is left open longer ..
    • Nose
      92 92
Cookies, vanilla, blueberries, maritime, fir wood, some rubber. Medium complexity, pronounced intensity.
    • Taste
      93 93
Walnut, balsamic, dark berry. Very well balanced and intense.
    • Finish
      93 93
Blackberries, vanilla, warming. Long finish with a lot of pressure.
