I can appreciate it for its age and profile, but not my taste at all
    • Nose
      85 85
Like entering a perfumery! Flowers, fresh fruits. Vanilla in the back. Has to sit in the glas a while to really show its profile
    • Taste
      70 70
Oily texture. Leathery taste, fruits not as dominant as in the nose. Old wood, motor oil(!). Complex, but not really a whisky for me
    • Finish
      65 65
Lengthy, bitterness from the cask. A faint hint of smoke. Motor oil lingers

This one tasted like a Caroni rum... Solvent, paint, engine oil - I liked it a lot!!
I suspect the flavour profile isn't for everybody, but in general I think a majority of whisky drinkers would pass on buying a bottle of grain whisky even if they like it. Simply because it is grain...

    • Nose
      87 87
      sweet with slight bitterness
    • Taste
      89 89
very strong, creamy after caramel; a very intense bourbon note
    • Finish
      89 89
      very long aftertaste

  5. Suevia scored this whisky 65 points Expert Senior

As a side note, I often have problems with grain whiskies. Grain-lovers (and considering the other ratings, there seem to be quite some) should take the score with a pinch of salt.
    • Nose
Glue, solvent, some maple syrup, oak. Not much happening at all.
    • Taste
Burning alcohol, completely unbalanced. Some kind of synthetic mixture of paint and varnish. Yuk.
    • Finish
Frustratingly lingering industrial alcohol even if you drink lots of water afterwards

  6. nallacam scored this whisky 70 points Expert Senior

For me, a disappointment and a testament to why Grain Whiskey still has a hard time.
    • Nose
      79 79
Glue, sawmill, vanilla, pepper, nutmeg carnation
    • Taste
      65 65
Sprittig, paint, turpentine, echoes of a bourbon

Unfortunately even more unpleasant with water ...
    • Finish
      65 65
      Just inharmonious and sprittig.
