A gentleman. Very set, slightly spicy, slightly smoky, slightly sweet. A little bit of everything, too much of nothing. There are juicy apple flavors, but this whisky still looks pleasantly old and ripe. Ardmore 1996 (20yo OA, WID: 102030), for example, looks fresh compared to a 12-year-old. Due to the "glowing" character I feel distant from my favorite standard that Talisker 18 reminds me of. Great whisky, but the current issue price (around € 250 at the end of May 2020) is beyond my pain threshold. It is not particularly good for the money.
Thick, creamy vanilla, with solid oak, some nutmeg. Light smoke. Later, homemade, freshly grated apple sauce is added, which alternates with spicy aromas from the old oak.
Very set, creamy vanilla here too. "Smoldering" is quite good here: delicate smoke in a harmonious interplay with set, pleasantly spicy, slightly peppery oak aromas. A little saw shavings.
In the finish it subsides a little. The same aromas as in the nose and mouth, but significantly weaker: creamy vanilla, spicy oak, slightly sweet, slightly smoky. Here the oak shows a little bitterness. Quite quickly gone.
