Whisky Reviews for Glenlivet 2007 SV

- Very subtle but yet rich and mouthcoating for a 46%!
- A first-fill sherry butt of a more modest variety. Neither overt oakiness nor typical dried fruit profiles one would expect. Instead I am presented with a heavily toffied style, with heavy herbal undertones. All-in-all very tasty, yet rather hard to reconcile with preconceived notions of first-fill sherried Glenlivet – the color being the only reassurance here, that the tongue is not playing any tricks on you. At 50€ very affordable and quite worth it IMHO.
Quite sweet, with lots of caramel and fudge. Honeyed grape juice, vanilla, and a touch of artificial water melon.
Sweet-herbal arrival. Good oak impact, yet no sourness or overt sharpness is noticeable. There is a further build-up to more herbal notes, brown sugar, and - similar to the nose –quite fudgy and toffied – not in a classic ex-Bourbon kinda way, but with more fruitiness and sherry-infused oak notes. Quite pleasant overall and well matured for its mere 11 years of age.
Rather long. Sweet herbal honey, eucalyptus tea, and mild tannins.
