Colour: chestnutoloroso cherry
Nose: slightly sour at first, then followed by vegetal smoke - tobacco actually. Later on it becomes sweeter; vanilla custard.
Taste: nice balance of smoke and peppery spiciness. Red currant, even some apricot, cinnamon, vanilla custard. Slightly sulphury. Very layered palate.
Finish: spiciness lingering with cinnamon and black pepper. A touch of bitter, and a slightly farmy note coming along once in a while - oh, and menthol.
Amazing how much difference there is between the two Oloroso octave finishes (the other one being WB ID 121715). This one is much better than cask 2642C; way more balanced and layered.
25-points score: Nose: 21 / Taste: 22 / Finish: 22 / Balance: 22.
Tasted 28/03/2019 in a Whiskybroker Ardmore octave finishes line-up (WB ID's 121489 / 121715 / 121488).
